Here's what I don't understand. If there were 22 episodes shot, why didn't ABC burn them off? Networks don't usually waste episodes that have been already been produced. At the very least they show them as a filler during the summer rerun season. I mean they aren't going to air them during sweeps week, but why not fill their dead time slots - of which ABC has plenty - with something that is at least new. Ok so ABC had to buy the show to air it, but I'm sure Bochco would have been willing to negotiate with them to get the last episodes of this pet project on the air. No matter what, I am guessing ABC could have sold the commercial time and made some - if not a lot - of profit. My 2 cents... and it's only a guess: ABC bought the right to air 13 episodes, which is a standard half-season order. So ABC (and the rest of the world where BJ's run) either passed on the back 9, or that's where the ownership issue gets muddy. Could it be that since no one bought the rights to air them, Bochco says he owns them but FOX says they do? Maybe our resident lawyer, MLM, understands this better. Sorry, you need an entertainment lawyer (which I'm not) or, at least, someone with knowledge of how these things work. I might be able to figure something out if I could take a look at the contracts, but pigs will fly before that happens.

Hey; I was there with Longlashes and that is exactly what he said - there were 22 episodes that were shot. I wish we could have seen them all. DRAT! Karma to you for confirming this , I am sure one day some how they will come out. I wouldn't expect the show to ever been funded for production again but there is a good chance someone will release it somewhere so as far as I am concerned, this is cause to celebrate. Like holding a lottery ticket that will probably win - one day when we least expect it.

Wow! I'm also coming late but I think my reaction has been covered by others. I would think that ep. 13 and now these extra ones would be added incentive for a DVD release. Here's hoping! What do you think--do we mention in letters these new ones or do we keep our cards close to our chest? Perhaps the reason no one had heard of these before was because they had shot the episodes, but never edited, spliced, and completed them with music? I think I've heard that the editing of films and tv shows can get very expensive and take a lot of time and effort. Especially when multiple cameras are involved, it would be difficult to match up dialogue and shots and make sure no errant cameramen are seen... But here's hoping! This would be extremely lovely to find they had completed 22 episodes and we would have an entire season. Swoon. In answer to Inuvik's question: Maybe just write that you would enjoy any extras, makings-of, interviews, promos, etc? Because it doesn't seem like the 22 are common knowledge. --GB

Boy, I love coming home and reading this thread the last couple of days! It is both exciting and frustrating at the same time. There will be one major happy dance going around the world when (notice I said when) Blind Justice makes it to dvd.
I sure wish I knew what to do now. It's frustrating sitting around doing nothing even if what you do is a long shot. It's better than nothing. Do you think letters will still work?

Oh, if only we knew just the barebones of the plot outlines of next 9 episodes! (not the cases, just the personal interactions).
Anyone else seeing Ron and wants to pick his brain? (I know we couldn't, I'm just fantasizing about knowing).

Wow! A lot happening here and its soooo exciting. ;D Straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak!!!! A happy dance going on here too.
I remember seeing something concerning Fox and was also confused since it was aired on ABC. That is probably what is holding it up. Hope.
Some episodes never seem to get aired when some shows are canceled. Holding in a limbo state, hoping for dvd sales.
When, and I stress WHEN, it hits the stores, everybody better make way!!!!

Well, the very idea of those missing episodes is absolutely driving us all nuts. ;D But we do know one thing now . . . . . . the show was never meant to end with two-and-a-half minutes of ballroom dancing.

Good point. The missing episodes also explain why "Fancy Footwork" never seemed quite right as the concluding episode. It was never intended to be a season finale, much less a series finale. It also occurs to me that if the full run of 22 episodes had aired, close to half of the series (about 40%) would have taken place after Jim stopped carrying a gun. It would have been interesting to see what effect, if any, that might have had. And -- while I'm here -- belated karma to longlashes and Bebe!

The thought of maybe getting to see that is very exciting--just to see if it plays out the way we think or in a totally different way.

It would also have been interesting to see how that affected how the show was perceived, once the gun was no longer an issue.

I'm just curious, I don't think this has been discussed but I was wondering exactly when the show was being filmed. Like when production began and ended. Does anybody know?
