Sorry about starting a new thread about a play that's already ended... but the "II" thread wouldn't let me post or even quote! And frankly, that thread needs a fresh start.
I am still trying to recover from NYC and I've been back since Sunday night. So I've got a lotta catching up to do here. Thanks Mags for the kinds words. Back atcha!
So you've heard about our drunken adventure with George the stagehand. Let me backtrack. Mags joined me & mom at Hurleys at 7:30ish, and she had to catch up to our Margaritas with a big ol' glass of wine. And it was like old home week with the Giggle Girlz. So by 7:45 after the tortoise waiter had finally brought the bill, we moseyed across the street, took some photos under the sign (here's mom & Mags)
and went into one of the most beautiful theatres I have ever seen. We all know that Ron's performance was great. As I am not a particularly religious person (understatement of the year), it took me a bit to get into the sermons.
Ron is in such command on stage it took my breath away. At the start of the scene when he's in the locker room, there were some latecomers being seated. He stood there waiting for them to get seated, and gave them a look like they were late to class before starting his monologue. How great was that!
From our 6th row seats, I almost LOLed when I saw Ron's feet. Mouse, your Sideshow Bob description came fluttering into my head.
Eileen Atkins was great. Between her, Ron & Adriane Lenox, it was like watching a three-way championship tennis match. Jena needs a few more turns as the ball girl.
So we made our way out afterwards and resumed our comedython. Part of what was so funny was that the other dozen or so people clutching their programs at the stage door were so stone-faced. That made us laugh every time, too. And we joked around with the driver, and the piza delivery guy, etc. Yes -we aretwo three wild and crazy gals!!
So we wait. Finally I get to take a photo of Maggie's ear and Our Favorite Blond. Look how interested he is while Mags gives him her dissertation on the origins of the ink pen! I'm soooo jealous.
And she's got him laughing. Smile!
Now Maggie gets to wield the camera. Here's Ron & Doobrah!!
Now let me get all girlie. When he was signing my program, I went ahead and put my arm around his waist and asked if I could get a photo with him. He said, "wait til I finish signing this." Lucky for me, Mags pen didn't work so good, so I got to hold on for a while. ;D And he felt gooood. Nice and solid. Substantial. OH!!! And he smelled nice and clean and was perfectly clean shaven. And his skin looked better than it ever did on BJ last year. I would have never thought he could look any better, but in person, he's even better looking than I would have ever guessed.
But even all that wasn't the highlight of the trip. The next day after buying tix for "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (highly recommended), we saw David Hyde Pierce (Niles) leaving the "Spamalot" theatre. Now that was a treasured moment.
NOT!!!
(edited for something I forgot to put in because I was distracted at work! Jeez, how dare they interrupt me while I'm doing this important business!)
