Someone brought up some funny misheard lyrics in another thread and that made me realize that we all have those stories.
Mine is a really stupid one, but since I still get teased about it, I may as well admit it here.
Remember "Man Eater" by Hall and Oates? Here's what I heard:
"O-oh here she comes. She's a BAND LEADER!"
I always wondered what could be so menacing about a band leader.

What about "scuse me while I kiss this guy" from Purple Haze?

Remember the Pina Colada song? My ex thought the line about "a big neon sign" was "pygmies on side".

Shmeep, my sister and I have been singing "she's a band leader" for the last 24 hours!
I thought the Laura Branigan song Gloria was saying "I think they got the aliens, you been living under."

I would like to take a moment to blame shmeep for most of my misheard lyrics.
I thought "Dr. Who" was "Dr. Ruth" for a while...maybe that was her brother's fault. And she used to sing (though I didn't buy into this one) "Hey Buffalo Bill" for the Beatles song "Bungalow Bill".

That's what I really thought they were saying. In fact, I never knew it wasn't Dr. Ruth. Who is this Dr. Who? Sounds like a 007 character. And the brothers didn't really go around singing much--until one joined a band.

I did have a friend back in the day who thought the lyrics to "Goin' to a Go-Go" were "Goin' to the Boat Show."

How about CCR's "Bad Moon on the Rise?"
Many people have heard it as "There's a bathroom on the right". A comedian mentioned it once and I have never forgotten it.

On the album Hot Fuss by the Killers (my latest favorite album), there is a song called Smile Like you Mean it. This morning my three year-old told me they were singing "smile like a window." My five year-old corrected him and said, "no they are singing 'smile like a native."

CHORUS Okay, let's give it to 'em, right now! GUITAR SOLO See Jamaica, the moon above It won't be long, me see me love Take her in my arms again Tell her I'll never leave again CHORUS Let's take it on outa here now Let's go!!
