I think the worst song ever is: Oh where, oh where can my baby be? I hate that song. I allways change the statiion when it comes on. You and me both. I've had a lot more years to grit my teeth when it came on. Absolutely HATE that song. Along with "Johnny Angel" and all those type of doo-wops. Along those same lines what about "Leader of the Pack" by The Shangri-La's And one more lousy duet - "Walk this Way" by Aerosmith and Run DMC. Sure, it revived Aerosmith's career, but I'll take the original any day.

The group that recorded Tub Thumping is Chumbawamba. I once saw a band play Tubthumping immediately after doing a scatter (Chinese Fire) Drill in which a Tuba player had fallen in trying to reach he spot in time. I thought it was quite appropriate. I also believe Alice Nutter is the lead vocalist with them and she was on Politically Incorrect with Ron in 1998. Back to our regularly scheduled program!

The Everley Brothers, "Ebony Eyes"
"On a weekend pass, I wouldn't have had time to get home and marry that baby of mine; so I went to the chaplan, and he authorized me to send for my ebony eyes."
That's how it starts. Then the plane doesn't show up and here's the rest:
"then I felt a burning great deep inside, and I knew the heavenly ebony skies, had taken my life's most wonderful prize, my beautiful ebony eyes...."
Now there's a leap-off-a-bridge oldie if I ever heard one!

I happen to like "We Built this city" just fine. Everytime I hear it, I think of my time in DC in the Navy. Both good and bad times, but it puts a definite time stamp on me. Fall 1985.

That is one of the ways I judge a song. Does it put me somewhere, take me to another time? I love "All You Zombies" because it brings me back to a frat party at my brother's fraternity at UC Berkely.

There are also a few peices of Band Music I've encountered that I could term the worst song ever. After 13 years of paying I've would guess that I've encountered about 200-300 songs. The absolute worst one was a piece of Chance Music entitled "Epinicion". I played it in college with a substitute band director (The regular director had back surgery).

Jim: "Hey Marty, I'm registering my vote on the board for worst song ever, "Who Let the dogs out?" You wanna vote? Marty: "Yeah, put me down for "The Chicken Dance Song." Tom: "Hey I'm in! Put me down for "Achy Breaky Heart"" Karen: "Would you guys knock it off and get back to work, or I'll tell Fisk you're fooling around on the internet again during the work day."

I would have to add "Don't Worry Be Happy" and "Short People" to the list.

Great topic, guys! I'm a little sad because I adore Another One Bites the Dust by Queen and this... "The Little Drummer Boy" David Bowie and Bing Crosby" ...is one of my favorite songs ever. Queen and Bowie! Hey! They made Under Pressure together, which is another one of my all time favorites. I don't care for We Built this City, but it doesn't make me want to put a gun to my head or anything. Short People makes me giggle because years ago, when I had another song stuck in my head, my good friend Greg told me he had a cure for that and started singing Short People. Sure enough, the other song was instantly replaced. Thanks, Greg. That is a pretty bad song. When it comes to Genre, I don't like rap, hip-hop, country, or schmaltzy love songs. I agree with the duet assessment (as long as Bowie and Bing are excluded from that list ). I don't care for Leader of the Pack, but I love some of the song parodies that came from that. The Leader of Iraq is pretty funny and so is Leader of the Laundromat. Hmm...I'm trying to think of one specific song I hate. There are so many. Um...Never cared for Jack and Diane, although now it brings back a certain era when I hear it.

Oh Shmeep I am so with you, although I gotta admit I like We built this city However I reckon I have found THE WORST SONG in all of human historty! Anyone like "Tell Laura I love her" by Richie Valance? The lyrics are about a guy who wants to buy an engagement ring fo rhis girl so he goes to the car ralley hoping to wina grand. he is the youngest driver and gets killed, but not before saying with his dying breath....Tell Laura I love her..." OH my god slit your wrists before the second chorus!!! ( sorry for shouting) ANd thre music? Blahhh! phew, got that outa my system. Anyone like that song? Ashatan PS I heard the US government banned that song when it first came out saying it would encourgae hoolinganism or some such, truth must have been the censor just hated it so much.
