Living on a coast, I eat sushi fairly regularly and I have become rather proficient with chopsticks. I think it is possible that a blind Jim could use them pretty easily. It just takes practice, and I am sure he has had plenty. I am also pretty good with chopsticks and agree with Mouse--it just takes practice. I think it's a skill Jim could learn with time.

At one point someone pointed out how impressive Eldard is in that scene (sorry I can't remember who made the point). They noted he is a sited guy pretending to be blind while sitting on the floor eating Chinese food with chopsticks, no easy feat! Psst! (hint) Rhymes with BLEEP. And who was it who said someone looking like the child of Ron Eldard and Dennis Leary? Or something like that. ;D

I said that Denis Leary looked like Ron Eldard and Willem Dafoe had a child. Sheesh! (not really as cranky as I may be coming across)

I have a similar request to the one greenbeing just posted in Doggone.
My tape of this episode (I think it's this episode!) is missing the beginning. I understand that this is the scene where they go back to Dr. Galloway looking for couples therapy. He then tells them he doesn't do couples therapy and suggests they find a shared activity.
This is what I have been able to pick up from various posts etc. But if someone was able to tell me exactly what was said (maybe even a screencap?) I'd be eternally grateful! My VCR must have started recording late.
Thank goodness there are so many devoted fans out there, to help us out with these sorts of requests!
Many thanks.

Well, I'll work on the dialogue for you . . . but what I take away from the initial scene -- and what, I have to admit, royally pissed me off -- was Christie just shutting down Galloway, essentially telling him that she wasn't going to open up to him unless he was "going to take them on" as clients. Chalk another one up to the Icy Ms. Dunbar. I groaned. How hopeful was I, after that tender scene in "Doggone It" when she agreed to talk to "someone," that she closed him out? Very. And that was the last we saw of the delectable Dr. G., for which I will never forgive her! Instead of couples therapy, what did we get? Ballroom dancing, and that interminable recording of "Call Me Irresponsible."

Just the Galloway scene, thanks mlm. And Maggie, thank you so much! "Christie just shutting down Galloway, essentially telling him that she wasn't going to open up to him unless he was "going to take them on" as clients." I had no idea about that , so that has already been a help.

The scene opens with Jim and Christie in Galloway's office. Christie is telling Galloway that Jim's ability to focus makes him a good detective and enabled him to go back to work so quickly, but now it's all about the job. Galloway interrupts and asks whether Jim was a cop when she met him. Christie says he was, but a lot of things have changed since they were married. When Galloway asks her what has changed, she tells him she doesn't feel comfortable discussing that with him if he isn't going to take them on. Galloway reminds her that he's already explained couples therapy is not his area of expertise. Jim encourages him to branch out. After thanking Jim for his confidence, Galloway tells him that, after listening to them, he doesn't think they have a year to wait for him to train (in couples therapy). He refers them to another therapist, Esther, who is very good at what she does. Galloway goes on to suggest that before pursuing couples therapy, Jim and Christie should remember why they fell in love and the things they used to have fun doing together, and do those things again. In disbelief, Jim asks, "That's your advice? Go have fun?" Galloway explains he's just saying they can take a break from their problems, which will still be there when they get back.

Thanks MLM! Karma too!
I'm going to print this and keep it with my videos, so I can refer to it whenever I watch it! Now I don't feel like I've missed anything.
Great screencaps too. I knew the great people on this board would help me out!

Looking at those screencaps from their last meeting with Galloway reminded me how much I hate those chairs in his office. They seem to be swallowing them up as if the bottom cushion is missing. I think a couple of nice wingback chairs would have suited Jimmy more. And another comment , not too easy to see there but when you watch the episode, Christie's choice of dress was quite revealing. I wonder if she had worn that dress to work that day. I know we've beaten her up already on her wardrobe in Dressing the Dunbars, but Jeez, Christie, "tone it down" for the therapy session.

Maybe Christie was always always half naked as a counterpoint to Karen. It gives the men who watched the show a choice, sort of like Betty vs Veronica, or Ginger vs Maryann.

Maybe she's one of those women whose thermostat always runs hot? I know I prpbably said this in the "Dressing the Dunbars" thread, but it is like the Jim/Karen clothing ratio in that Jim is usually in about six layers of clothing while Christie is barely in one! He's in long sleeves, she's in a skimpy T, he's in jacket and tie and the Burberry, she's in a short little jacket and painted-on jeans. So, Doobrah, how much would you have given to have it the other way around? Heh. Like I don't know the answer.

I watched this episode tonight and have to agree that Christie could have excercised more taste and chosen a more appropriate outfit. I believe this session was prior to the start of the work day. She looked like she was headed to a cocktail party, not work!

I never realized that therapy session with the good Dr. was in the morning before work, but I checked it out and it is light out and that is the suit and shirt he has on that day at work. I just assumed it was at the end of the day like his other sessions. (In one of his other sessions, I notice Galloway's clock says 7:00, boy he works late.)So "yeah" I guess Christie is going to go to work in that dress. That'll make Clay's day.

It just dawned on me that there is another one of those bookend moments in Dance with Me . The bathroom discussion! Remember how in the Pilot , the man in the cell with his "hey, blind dude" and how he kept asking Jim how he went to the bathroom, did his 'little doggy' go in with him and did he 'do it standin' up, must ruin a lot of shoes that way'. Then here, in Dance with Me, Pete askes Jim the same question and Jim explains how its 'not rocket science' !
