Someone, somewhere, asked if "Absolutely" was said in every single episode. I figure that's too large of a project for one set of ears/eyes to know, so... when you watch the eps, if you happen to notice: add to the list, if you will. Because now *I* am curious (like that never happens), too.
So today was listening and heard it.
LEAP OF FAITH: yes. Dunbar to Walter at the retirement party: "You're absolutely right."

You're right! That does seem to come up quite a lot. I'll join you in the "Absolutely" watch and I'll let you know if I find anything! I'm certain I will. Absolutely.

"Absolutely" must be catching, because Jim is not the only character who uses it. In "Doggone," when the drug thief Rory is asked if he killed Bud, his answer is "Absolutely not."
In "Seoul Man," I think Dr. Galloway tells Jim it is "absolutely" not his fault that he didn't catch the perp (someone please check me on this one).

I checked up on myself and found that Dr. Galloway does say "absolutely," but not as I remembered. He uses it twice in the session. First, he tells Jim that if he wants to come in on his own, that's "absolutely" available. Later he tells Jim that "absolutely" there are things he cannot do.
Selway also has the "absolutely" bug. In "Fancy Footwork," he is asked whether Misty West could have killed Les. His answer: "Absolutely." Then Jim gets in on the "absolutely" act. He tells Anthony that if they let him go, pending issuance of an arrest warrant, they will "absolutely" tell Bo that Anthony is back on the street.

Hi Kyt, I am so happy to have found you all. And I was the one who brought up that ABSOLUTELY question a while back. I have been noting the episodes as I hear it. I have the numbers 3,7 6,7,12 where I have absolutely heard it. I am on a mission now to see if it is in all the other episodes. Tough work but somebody has to do it!

The guilty party arrives at last! Glad to see you onboard! Here's what we have so far (yeah, I know: overkill. Can I blame it on the heat?). Kyt . . . (1) Pilot (2) Four Feet Under (3) Rub a Tub Tub * yes, no data (4) Up on the Roof (5) Marlon's Brando (6) Seoul Man * Galloway to Dunbar: If Dunbar wants to come in on his own, that's "absolutely" available * Galloway to Dunbar: "absolutely" there are things Dunbar cannot do. (8) Past Imperfect (9) In Your Face (10) Doggone * Drug thief Rory: when asked if he killed Bud: "Absolutely not." (11) Dance with Me (12) Under the Gun * yes, no data (13) Fancy Footwork * Selway, when asked if Misty West could have killed Les: "Absolutely." * Dunbar tells Anthony that if they let him go, they will "absolutely" tell Bo that Anthony is back on the street.

I just happened to watch "Four Feet Under" this evening and didn't notice an "absolutely." Did anyone else notice one in this episode?
There is a second "absolutely" in "Leap of Faith." After Jill Berglass rakes Jim over the coals after learning Doyle has been released, Marty comments, "That was rough." Jim's response: "She's absolutely right."

Leap of Faith has a record 3 ABSOLUTELY's. First in squad room Tom and Marty say it is with having an interview with Virginia Purty about Sam Berglass. Jim says, "Absolutely, but he was clean when I knew him" Then to Walter at the retirement party. Jim says "You're absolutely right" and then to Marty when he comments that Jill Berglass was rough on Jim, he says "She's absolutely right". I need a hobby.

"Dance with me " is a yes too. Fireman Dean Bostic to Marty, "Am I free to go?" ABSOLUTELY, replies Marty.

At the beginning of the episode, Tom suggests Carl was probably killed by someone he arrested. Jim's response: "Absolutely." When Jim and Karen speak with Mary Beth for the first time, Mary Beth asks Karen to let her know if they find out anything. Karen: "Absolutely." When Jim and Karen ask Mary Beth about infidelity on her part, Jim assures her the information will "absolutely" remain in the squad. I have a hobby -- but I'm having entirely too much fun with this!

OK episodes 3,6,7,10,11,12,13 are all accounted for with ABSOLUTELY with Leap of Faith and Ruba tub tub both having 3 absolutely's in them. So no need to watch any of them again (yeah, right) So next time you are watching Pilot (I don't think there were any) and Four feet Under, Up on a roof, Marlon's Brando, Past Imperfect, and In your face. listen for the WORD. and add to our important survey.

OKay.........you guys are cracking me up! Take a step back and look at what you're doing. Yeah, like I should talk. Heyheyhey... This brings up two questions: 1) Whaaaaaaaat... You would suggest, instead, that we oughta be in the Fanatics or Embarrassing Moments threads? 2) Tell us if you notice the word "Absolutely" the next time you're listening/reading/watching an episode. (We'd like to recommend one of the eps listed just above in Casey's post --- Heh). (Next one can be the lockers q/a). Pretending this is absolutely normal, Kyt
