Jim-Dandy! Boy did that look good and for some reason, he loved that name. He couldn't help thinking about his cousin Marty at that moment. He was stuck in a little town in Canada. Simcoe, he thought. He heard it was a nice town, but while he was sitting in a nice restaurant eating ice cream, Marty was swimming up and down the Lynn River forced to eat soggy bread that was thrown in the water and whatever else he could find. Yep! It's a bird eat bird world out there, but that's Blind Justice for you. He didn't even see this coming! What a beautiful little scene! Lovely place, that "little town in Canada". Looks kind of like Orillia, which I visited 2 years ago. It also has a nice waterfront.

Thanks. It is nice. Feeding the ducks is very popular. As you can see, the ducks were outnumbered in that spot by the seagulls yesterday. They are really trying to discourage people from feeding the ducks anymore because of all the droppings, but everyone does it anyway. It's nice and relaxing and the kids love it.

We were all sitting in Battery Park on Tuesday Anyway, Lucy bought Carl a NY City Jail t-shirt and he wanted to get arrested by a policeman. After that escapade in the bathroom, the guy was all set for a good laugh. He looks happy at the thought of being transferred to Attica for escaping though. Hope you bring your parka, Carl. Actually, I was pinched for "assault" at Battery Park. Hah! As for the parka, the cop was, afterall, NYC Park(a) Police. Later, Carl

Ron Elduck sat on the edge of the water and marveled at his good fortune. He was no longer stuck in that cheezy shop in Manhattan. He had a new family that loved him and would take good care of him. As he was sitting on the rock, he notice something floating in the water. Were his eyes decieving him or was that a house floating on the water? Wow! He was already quacking up over the thoughts of talking his new family into living on one of those for the summer. Yeah, this was the life. Hanging out at the beach. Sunning himself. Maybe have a little wheatgrass juice--with emphasis on little! He couldn't quite figure out how to build a sandcastle when he could really hang on to the shovel and the shovel was bigger than him. You know, maybe he should ask his cousin Marty to come to Erie for the summer and stay on the houseboat. They could build the sandcastle together and he'd always heard that a little kindness goes a long way. Maybe Marty would lighten up a little if he didn't have to fight the seagulls for food for a while. This all sounded great, but it would take money. He decided to contact his friend, Detective Jim Duckbar, from the NYPD and see if he had any connections in the coast guard. Maybe there was an office job he could do or something to earn some money. After all, he was just one little duck. They wouldn't mind him hanging around for a little while would they? Yep, this was the life. He had the whole houseboat thing figured out and was going to talk to his new family about it when he got some really bad news........ Dogma, it's all yours now.

Some of you wondered what Lucy looked like. Here is a picture of her and E. She is 4'10 or 11 and Carl is 6'4. I'll see if I can find a nice one of the two of them standing. There is a woman who comes to the library who could pass for Lucy's sister! I guess everyone does have a twin somewhere in the world! And Carl, glad to see you got sprung from the joint. Must have been for good behavior! Glad you all had such a great time... Later, Hoosier!

Taking a break from Ron for a minute, one thing that struck me was all the homeless people we saw in the street or down in the subway. I know there is a lot of that in a big city and that it may not be much for some of you to see, but for me it was. One lady even came on the subway and went from car to car explaining her situation hoping for some kind of handout. Part of me wonders if they are all really homeless and the other part of me wants to help them out. Dogma gave one old guy some crackers because that's all we had. She said she doesn't mind giving them food but would never give them money. I agree since at least you know they can't waste it on alcohol or anything else.
I couldn't help thinking that but for the grace of God go anyone of us. I don't know anyone who is homeless, but I do know people who struggle a great deal and have absolutely no extra money. Family members do not help at all. A lost job can lead to other problems that can lead to loss of a house and before you know it maybe you're out on the street too.
I'm just a little more thankful for a nice warm house to live in--and a job too. I cetainly don't make a lot of money at it, but it's a job and I enjoy it.
