I've always wanted to go to a real Baseball game!!! it's not a big thing here, we're more softball people. But even that isn't exactly of national Interest.
Another thing to add to my To-do list when i visit the US lol.

I just had to share the following quote from an article by Tom Verducci at cnnsi.com about the opener in San Diego and the heckling of Barry Bonds: All I have to add is: we're counting on you, LA, Philly, Chicago, and NY. By the way, I read the article while lunching on a fish taco. ;D I've always wanted to go to a real Baseball game!!! it's not a big thing here, we're more softball people. But even that isn't exactly of national Interest. Another thing to add to my To-do list when i visit the US lol. One of the most fun times I ever had at a baseball game was when some friends and I took a visitor from the UK to a game. Fortunately, we didn't have to explain the Infield Fly Rule! ;D

Me being a St. Louis boy, I'm a Cardinal fan.
Be they win, lose, or draw.

I know what you mean, Carl. I am a Toronto Blue Jays fan, win, lose or draw - thank heavens, or I guess thank Joe Carter - they have won the World Series a couple of times.
I remember their very first American League game, from Exhibition Stadium in Toronto, in April - it did as it was meant to do -
IT SNOWED!

Time for a couple of rants:
1. Barry Bonds closing in on Babe Ruth's home run record. Ugh. Not only was the guy probably juiced on steroids when he hit a lot of his home runs, he's a narcissistic jerk. He'd better hope he hits numbers 714 and 715 in San Francisco. Of course, I'm probably biased because quite a few of those homers came off San Diego Padres pitching. Which leads me to . . .
2. What the @#$%&*?! is up with the Padres? Hello, guys, the object of the game is to score runs -- preferably more than the other team. I'm going over the edge the next time one of them hits into a double play with men on base. Of course, if they ever do start hitting, the pitching (which has been rather good so far) will probably go south.
OK, rant over. That feels better.

"Mr. Padre," Tony Gwynn, and Cal Ripken, Jr. have been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Both were elected in their first year of eligibility -- and deservedly so. Congratulations, Tony and Cal!

I would like to say I would root , root, root for the home team, but they are just not very good. And I hate the mascot even more! What were they thinking? The Colorado state dinosaur is a stegosaurus, not a triceratops. Try to go Rockies!?!

I'll be rooting for my Padres to "three-peat" as NL West champs. If they do make it to the postseason, I only hope they don't have to play Carl's Cardinals again. Speaking of mascots, I think I prefer the dinosaur (whatever it is) to the "Swinging Friar":

I am blatantly soliciting votes to elect San Diego Padres pitcher Chris Young to the National League All-Star Team. In spite of being only the third-best pitcher in the entire league, Chris was inexplicably passed over when the team was announced this week. Even the guy who's second in the voting says Chris deserves to be an All-Star. So please go to the Padres web site and vote for Chris Young. In the great American tradition of stuffing the ballot box, you can vote as many times as you wish. Thanks for your support -- and go Padres! P.S. If you don't want to get e-mails from the "sponsors" of the vote, be sure to un-check those boxes each time you vote.

Count me in too! I haven't watched a baseball game in years (not since soccer took over our lives), I couldn't tell you who's on first or what's on second....but if Chris Young deserves to be there, let's do what we can to see that he gets there! Go MLM's Padres!
By the way, you can vote more than once - so I did - 25 ballots cast for Mr. Chris Young! Hope those votes work out better than my votes for AI!!
