Other weird weather things I saw on the news:
A couple of days ago, Australians throwing "hailballs" in Canberra because they got so much hail.
And last night in Nashville, an incredible lightning storm that seemed to take up the whole sky.

Ugh? Sorry, Mouse, but your back yard is lovely, even covered with the white stuff. When the snow melts and the birdies start singing again, can I please come and sit in your pretty wrought-iron chairs under the striped umbrella and drink iced tea and talk about . . . oh, you know . . . Life? Hey, one day you will remember these pretty snow scenes with affection. Believe it.

Your snow is very pretty, Mouse. Ours, not so much. What isn't melted is brown, yucky and full of gravel or sand or trash. Today, we have been under a tornado watch and storm threat warning. We did have some rain and I heard a little rumble of thunder but we seem to have dodged the bullet. The wind has been very strong and is supposed to continue until tomorrow when the temperature is to drop and we could have snow showers or flurries. Today, 52 degrees, tomorrow, in the 30's. Welcome to Indiana!
P.S. Think of all the great pictures you will have to show your friends from your time in the Heartland. They will probably be envious!

Here in the New York Metropolitan area, we're finally having a Snow Day. I can't complain, since we've had an oddly warm winter and so far I've only had to dig my car out twice, which is a record for Connecticut. The storm started last night, and, knowing that the worst would come this afternoon and tonight, The Powers That Be cancelled all the area schools today. It's supposed to snow from now until midday tomorrow! Here's why I am loving this day: I finished a job yesterday so I can relax, I knew it was going to snow so my larder is filled for the weekend, and today I have been doing all sorts of needed tasks like organizing the linen closet (Oh, no, how Martha-like), and finally cleaning out the tiny spare room into which I have been dumping things for two solid months and then closing the door. So [drum roll] the Christmas decorations are finally going back up in the attic. And I have my traditional St. Patrick's corned beef simmering away on the stove. ;D A good day.

Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a snowy St. Patrick's Day.
Here in Northern Virginia, we were at 83 degrees on Wednesday. It was beautiful yesterday, albeit a little humid, close to 80 and little overcast. But when I left work last night at 5:30, the temperature had already dipped to 50.
I woke this morning to the pelting rain, left work at 2:30 in a flurry of sleet, and now it is snowing!
I think everything around here - the birds, the trees, the flowers, etc., must be absolutely confused....I know I am!

On Tuesday the weather was so nice sunny and 70+ degrees. I even went out bike riding. Today it is 32 degrees and snowing and there is just about enough to go sled riding!

Snow all day here in RI and now changing over to sleet, and freezing rain. Tomorrow they say very heavy rain, and the 51st annual St' Patrick's Day parade is set to step off at 10:00 and I HAVE to be there, so I guess I'll be getting wet. HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

With polar bear swims under your belt, hopefully you will weather this storm!
For the first time in four years, the soccer tournament our boys were scheduled to play in Maryland this weekend has been SNOWED OUT!

Wednesday people were running around in t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops in the 77 degree heat. Wednesday night a cold front went though dumping about 1 and 1/2 inches of rain. Thursday it was back to the parka ( alas no stylish burberry!) and gloves with a high of 35! However, daffodils and crocuses are blooming and tulips and other spring flowers are pushing their way up. The robins are back, abet looking a little confused by the cold weather. Spring is officially only 5 days away!

You know, it's one thing to have to dig your car out - I got no issue with that.
It's entirely ANOTHER however when you TRY to find your WHITE CAR under WHITE SNOW!!!!
GRRRRRR........

Reading this thread makes me feel like a real wimp. We have a severe weather warning for tomorrow. At low lying areas, we might get 2 to 5 centimetres of snow. So... two inches maximum. (Higher areas will get more.) That's really not a lot, is it! The worst of it isn't so much the amount of snow we might get, but the amount of rain we've already had. If we get frost and then snow, the roads are going to treacherous with ice. I've figured out that, if the roads are really bad on Monday, I can get to work via the bus. However, I can't get home again. Well, not unless I walk the last four miles, which is a possibility! Krissie

So much for the snow.
We didn't get any!
There is a dusting on top of our local hills, but all we got lower down was hail and sleet. Today, there were a couple of flurries at work before we got -- yep -- more rain.

It has decided to warm up here--nearly 70 as of noon--and we had rain this morning. They are calling for more rain Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday... Looks like Saturday will be the only decent day but I am not holding my breath! All the bulbs are popping up so that means uncovering the beds but I am leary of discarding the leaves I used because it might dip back down again. I can remember it snowing in May not too long ago! Of course, it didn't last but the plants didn't appreciate it!

Yes, Spring showed-up with rain and temps in 70 degree Fahrenheit.
Today, however, it is cold with the wind blowing from the North.
Spring yesterday; Sprung today. Later, Carl
