Cool, in the low 70's, with occasional rain showers. We're stuck in between Ernesto and the jet stream so the rain has hung around. I can handle the cooler weather but we usually have a heat wave around October---that or the snow will fly!

Its been rather nice--temps in the mid 70's. A couple of days ago it really dropped over night and I had to pull the blanket up. Tomorrow they say we could have thunderstorms and then the temp will drop so it will be in the mid 60's. The leaves are beginning to change ,the birds are flocking, had several early morning fogs and there are cobwebs everywhere you look ( ), all clear signs of fall. I haven't heard of anyone looking at the persimmon seeds to see what the weather signs are--spoons mean snow (shovels) and forks mean little to no snow!

We are experiencing a uniquely Southern Californian weather phenomenon - Santa Ana winds. They are relatively mild so far, it is early in the season, they'll pick up soon enough and of course be followed by lots of brush fires. Here's a link for those of you not familiar with this wonderful weather: www.atmos.ucla.edu/~fovell/ASother/mm5/SantaAna/winds.html

We've had severe weather the past couple nights. Grand wind storms, threats of tornados and hail, massive raindrops the size of small poodles. Or is that small puddles... One raindrop splattered my windshield with an approximate 3-4 inches in diameter.
Trapped at Target attempting to buy a squirt gun to shoot slugs. The sirens went off. No squirt gun. Where oh where? They shuffled us all into the storage room. And I'm thinking, the last time a tornado went through the center of Omaha, it leveled 72nd Street. I'm ON 72nd Street. Only a couple blocks from where it was leveled back in 1975.
Get home, park in driveway because, with the tornado warning expired, I can go to the last panel discussion of the 2nd Annual Lit Fest that starts at 11pm, right? I planned to leave within fifteen minutes, but upon stepping inside, it started pouring. Rain, solid rain, wind, it felt like hail and tornadoes, so I figured, better put the car in the garage.
Open the garage door, notice that even though I have my back stairs covered from the yard, that my garage is flooding... That's a lot of rain. I'm getting wet inside the garage, so I take the plunge. I only have to run three feet to hop in the car. My front steps have become a miniature waterfall, about an inch deep. And I glance up to see this deluge from my roof. Slow motion. It looks like someone's standing on my roof, pouring a rather large bucket down. The water is a solid sheet rolling off the roof.
I was outside for maybe ten seconds. Maybe. More like five.
I was wet.
My car was wet.
My garage was wet.
Drip, drip, drip.

GB, that was entertaining as always. Glad you're ok and hope things are slowing down so you can drop by a little more. I've missed you.
