I am Your Autistic Child By: Adelheide Johanna Schmetterling I am your autistic child Please love me as I am. Help me to navigate A world not quite suited to me. Have patience when I can cope no more And need a break. Let me observe you and learn The scripts of the world. “Please” “Thank You” “I’m fine. How are you?” Give me space when I need it, but Remember to hold me close sometimes, too. Forgive my faux pas and Show me a new strategy. Teach me how to fly, but, Let me decide when I’m ready to soar. Have pride in who you have helped me to become And, always reassure me of your love. I really like this alot--maybe because of Willi. I'll have to print this and give it to his mom. Thanks for posting it. Was the person who wrote it autistic?

I just got this in an email. I don't know if it's been passed around before, but I've never seen it and thought it was pretty good.
Some wise words... from Bill Gates > > Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head >with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 >things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how >feel-good,politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with >no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the >real world. > > Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it! > > Rule 2 : The world won't care about your self-esteem. The >world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about >yourself. > > Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of >high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn >both. > > Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you >get a boss. > > Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. >Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it >opportunity. > > Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so >don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them. > > Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as >boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning >your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. >So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's >generation, try delousing the closet in your own room. > > Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and >losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing >grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right >answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real >life. > > Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get >summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND >YOURSELF. Do that on your own time. > > Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people >actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs. > > Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up >working for one. > > If you agree, pass it on. > If you can read this - Thank a teacher! > > > This should be posted in all schools and work places

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off ... Unless you are a teacher, of course!

Karma, BJO for posting the very wise words from Bill Gates. I posted them on a Danish board and immediately got a somewhat negative reaction from a high school student. She said: That's nonsense!! Such a selfish Antisocialistic American Liberal!!
It's hilarious but there's no truth in it, whatsoever.I think Mr. Gates hit a nerve ;D - Chris

People usually don't get mad at things like that unless there's some truth in it somewhere. And Inuvik, yes, I do get the summer off but I'm going to redecorate my room. I didn't not realize how much stuff I had crammed into my bedroom. I'm no where near done and I've already moved about eight boxes of stuff to the attic that I want to keep and gotten rid of at least that much to the goodwill. I wouldn't be surprised if I double that by the time I'm done. I think this is going to be my summer job. I am thankful that I have the summer to do it though because I could not work all day and do this without it taking me about six months. I don't want to make you sick or anything but I'm doing a Toronto Maple Leaf room. I have enough accessories already to sink a ship! I know I'm a bit off topic so back we go!

This isn't really a thought for the day, but it does make you think for a minute. I didn't really know where to put it. Color Test... Bet you can't get 100% on the first try! This is pretty neat! See how you do with the colors! Have fun! It takes an average of 5 tries to get to 100%. Follow the directions! It's harder than it seems, as it should be! www.humorsphere.com/fun/8787/colortest.swf

Inuvik is a genius! I could not separate the two very well. I know I am so right brained.
