Ooh you said once we could guess,( From June 6 from Maggie: Ah-hah. That would be cheating, but I will take guesses!) and I am putting my money on Annie. Now she is stuck with an unemployed drunk and she blames Jimmy. To quote Karen from episode 11, "she did it. He had nothing to do with it. " Good motive - revenge. I loved that Tom and Marty are now privy to that handkerchief fiasco, and all of them to that awful day at the bank. I always wished he had told them more than "it was a bad day for everyone", but of course that was Jim and that was all he would say at that time. Excellent writing Maggie. I especially loved your description at the beginning of how he got around by counting. Must take an incredible amount of concentration. My favorite line from Galloway:" getting you to talk was like trying to open a clam with a plastic picnic fork" Can't wait for more.

I've been out all day and just got in and found Chapter Three. What a nice way to finish up the weekend! Jim and Dr. Galloway are right on the money -- and it was a real treat to see the good doctor again. Jim telling the rest of the squad what really happened at the bank -- I felt like the proverbial fly on the wall.
It's true Terry is an obvious suspect, but then again, obvious suspects usually are obvious for good reason. Besides, the story's about a lot more than simply whodunnit.
Great work, mags!

Wow. Two different things I've been hungry for since I first watched the series: Jim being open with Galloway about Terry and--possibly even better--the others in the squad being let in on the full Terry story. I love how Jim had to come clean because of the stalker aspect. Just in case. Neat trick. I'm not convinced Terry is the stalker, but finding out for sure is bound to be quite a ride.
Well done! And thanks...

Awww.... this is great. It could be one of the lost episodes, like #7 that they skipped. Nice and angsty with the long-awaited return of Dr. G.

Awww.... this is great. It could be one of the lost episodes, like #7 that they skipped. Nice and angsty with the long-awaited return of Dr. G. Ooh. Right in between "Seoul Man" and "Leap of Faith." High praise indeed! Thanks, everyone, for your wonderfully encouraging responses. This has been an absolute gas to write. And wouldn't we all like to imagine that somewhere in those mythical Episodes 14 - 22, we were treated to the return of both Dr. Galloway and Terry? Sigh.

Oh, I'm at it again. Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. Thanks to a few gentle hints from The Mighty Shmeep, I have rewritten the beginning of Chapter Three. Oh, I knew that counting steps and working with a guide dog were mutually exclusive techniques, but I got carried away -- and I do write this stuff in the middle of the night, which is my only excuse. And I fiddled with some of the dialogue. Cut every excess word, that's my motto. Thanks again for all of your interest and support and no, I am not coming clean on who the stalker is . . . not just yet, that is.

Well, I finally got smart. (Giving myself the Stephanie Plum head slap here.) Chapter Three now follows Chapters One and Two in the "Out of the Past" thread, so you can read it all together. I will delete the old Chapter Two and Chapter Three threads to avoid confusion. When I finish Chapter Four (don't hold your breath -- it's gonna be tricky!), I'll put it after Chapter Three and post an announcement here. Thanks! Maggie the Nudnik

Finally! Chapter Four of "Out of the Past" has been posted, and I apologize for making everyone who was interested wait a month. It's been a while, so honestly? I'd go back and reread from Chapter One to get all the links I worked like a little demon to put in. And to those of you whose messages I haven't answered in the past 24 hours . . . now you know why. Feedback, as always, not only welcomed but encouraged. Thanks! Mags

Ah, now that's what I've been waiting for - excellent bit of fic, Miss Maggie! You have a fabulous way of creating visuals, the descriptions are strong, the motions felt, the interactions wonderful. And I love the way you have taken a relatively vunerable character and made them a victim of their own circumstance. Very crafty and well crafted - me thinks you know how to tell a story and a damn good one at that!
Now, if only we could talk another certain somebody to add something more to another excellent bit of fic that has been sitting out there unfinished for oh, so long! We've been "expecting" something new there for almost as long as Christie was expecting those babies!

Holy God, Maggie, I've finally been able to read the whole thing and it is absolutely magnificent!!!! I love it and what a briliant idea - a stalker; it flows so wonderfully and I could certainly see that as an ep for sure!! Well done, my dear, truly well done!!!

Don't read this if you haven't read Maggie's conclusion to Out of the Past. Spoiler here. Back in the beginning you did challenge us to figure out who the stalker was, and in rechecking, I see that I did pick, you know who, sooooooooooooo do I win a prize? Maybe a day sailing with Jimmy? Here's my guess from June 18th. Ooh you said once we could guess,( From June 6 from Maggie: Ah-hah. That would be cheating, but I will take guesses!)and I am putting my money on Annie. Now she is stuck with an unemployed drunk and she blames Jimmy. To quote Karen from episode 11, " she did it. He had nothing to do with it. " Good motive - revenge. My favorite line from Galloway:" getting you to talk was like trying to open a clam with a plastic picnic fork" Can't wait for more. Great story Maggie. I especially loved the sailing sequence. We have the World Championship for Blind Sailors here in Newport every summer. This year I am going to go and see if Jimmy and Christie are sailing in it. Oh keep writing. You are great.

Chapter Four was definitely worth waiting for -- but I'm glad you didn't make us wait any longer. I absolutely loved the scene with Fisk -- you got his reaction exactly right. Great work, mags!
