I read the whole thing again too. I have to agree with everyone. What a great chapter. This could very easily be one of the missing episodes. We all know Terry had already lost it so it makes sense that Annie would too--because of the consequences--all of which were so neatly pointed out in her little meltdown.
Letting everyone in on the bank and telling Fisk--all very dramatic. The ending was awesome. Good tension reliever for Jim and Christie. You have to think it's really over now with Terry since they can both laugh about the possibility of seeing him again one day.

Wow. The exposition is so Noir, I can almost hear Mags' typewriter clacking. Great job, and a happy ending, at least until Terry starts working the 12 steps.

I have to agree with everyone's assessment. I liked the fact that it was Annie and not Terry who was the stalker;the perfect wife implodes and all. Its the ones you least expect that you have to worry about! As for Jim and sailing, it seems more natural than ballroom dancing

The past few weeks have been a little nutty, and so I apologize for not responding to all of your extremely kind comments re “Out of the Past.” It was great fun to write, and for me was all about imagining one more scene with The Good Doctor, finishing up with Terry, and also the sheer “what if?” self-indulgence of having Jim come clean to the squad about the bank, and to Fisk about the Oliver case. (And, of course, working in The Godfather for Mouse. ) By the way, the Stanton House is real. I’ve driven by it a kazillion times but I’ve never been inside, so don’t book a room on the strength of Mrs. Norsgaard or the four-poster bed. The marina across the street is also real, although to my knowledge they don’t rent sailboats. Going under the Metro North drawbridge is quite an experience, if, like the friend I go sailing with, your mast is taller than the 30-foot clearance. You radio the man in the bridge house and he raises the drawbridge. Quite a feeling of power -- except for the time we needed to go through at rush hour and waited in the broiling sun for two hours for the train traffic to clear. And truly heartfelt thanks to those who opined that "Out of the Pst" seemed like a missing episode. General rule of thumb with screenplays is that one page is roughly equivalent to one minute onscreen, so may I wasn't that far off. Anyway, thanks again. Mags ;D
