I know, I know, I left you all hanging over a month ago. Please accept my sincere apologies! If you've read the "Old Age Ain't No Place for Sissies" thread then you know my life hasn't been my own lately, and the extra time to write entertaining Dunbar fic has pretty much gone out the window. But I will finish this, promise. Only one chapter to go and I know how it ends. Thank you all for your patience.

No problem. Things happen, but you did confuse me. I thought you'd posted one and had one more to go, but after reading it again, I see that you're saying there's one more to come.
Must be all the smoke I inhaled today. Something went wrong with the furance at school and we had to go spend the day in the other building. Ours was smokey all...day...long. No fire and everyone is fine, but very unsettling and not sure what's happening tomorrow.

I sat down with a long, leisurely cup of coffee on a beautiful almost summer morning in NOVA and treated myself to a reread of One Eyed Man. I so enjoy your writing Mags, your style is so crisp and clean, and the new characters you have deftly woven in to this story bring such a flavor of personality with them, Miss Mary case in point! The concept behind this one is brilliant - Jim's revisit to Galloway exactly what the situation called for - and Jim a cop, always a cop. I am now even more hopeful that you are feeling well enough, soon, to keep that promise you made - and finish it! Please?

Goodness! Longlashes, your very kind and generous words are further inspiration to finally finish the story in the next couple of weeks -- thank you!

It's a long weekend here, so have also had a chance to go back and re-read this one.
So agree with LL about crisp, clean writing style, and in thinking about it just reinforces view that there's such talent of different types around here! But mostly Miss Mary - what a hoot!
Have had the great fortune to know a few old style police roundspeople, only men. Any woman involved in that particular clique at the time she was first in it would have had to have been Miss Mary to a T I reckon, she's fantastic!
I keep wondering, why are all of you people not publishing? You all write so brilliantly!
Thank you Maggie, between you and Ashatan my winter long weekend down time has been most fun.
Please finish ....
Cheers
Matilda

I keep wondering, why are all of you people not publishing? What can I say, except "stuff happens"? As we know, that has definitely been the case with maggie recently. But if she says she's going to finish the story, she will. Believe it. I have one "work in progress" at present, but it's going to be a while before it's ready for "publication." I simply haven't had much time to devote to writing recently. Thanks to Natascha for keeping us out of a fan fiction "drought."

I loved your Day of Reckoning[ Thanks to Natascha for keeping us out of a fan fiction "drought." Thanks and karma to all the fanfic writers. It's fun. And Anita didn't you promise us more?

Sorry, meaning not clear.
Yeah I was complimenting the talent and talking serious publishing, it's great stuff and I'm no expert at all but it's good!
I can't work out how anyone, with the busy lives we all lead in our so-called First World gets time and creativity space to do this and I am admiring and grateful.
Cheers

And Anita didn't you promise us more? I did and now that school's out and graduation is over for another year, maybe I'll have time to work on it. I have an idea, but that is all it is at the moment.

I'm calling Anita out on that one! As for publishing - I wish, believe me. Unfortunately, LL, Maggie, Ash, mlm are all using characters owned by ABC, so it's against the law. BUT, I've suggested to the above-mentioned to consider writing a brand new story with brand new characters and go for it!!!! Why not, right?

Oh not the B/J fic of course, which is just for fun, but they have so much talent, they should all be writing novels. Actually I know Maggie is already published as I have received from ebay a copy of a book she had published a few years back. Miranda Goes to Hollywood. It was out of print but I found it at a used book place. I was hoping to read it to my class but just received it and school year is almost done. I did love telling the class that I know this author. They were impressed! So Maggie is our published board member. Maybe the next time I'm in NY, I'll get it signed by the author!

Mine are both signed by the author which is really cool! I think you should do it, Mary. The kids would be very impressed.

Aw, youse guys are makin' me blush. Thank you so much for the lovely and generous comments in this thread (sorry I didn't respond sooner but it's been a wicked busy couple of days). And rducasey? You bet I'll sign your copy of Miranda and the Movies for you, any time we can get together. That is one of the greatest joys of being a published author . . . especially when your books are to all intents and purposes out of print.
