Aw, youse guys are makin' me blush.  Thank you so much for the lovely and generous comments in this thread (sorry I didn't respond sooner but it's been a wicked busy couple of days). And rducasey? You bet I'll sign your copy of Miranda and the Movies for you, any time we can get together. That is one of the greatest joys of being a published author . . . especially when your books are to all intents and purposes out of print.  I'm buying your books and coming to CT! |

Well, darling friends, all of your nagging paid off -- or maybe the act of organizing the fic board this afternoon was inspirational. After procrastinating since January (mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa) I finally finished "The One-eyed Man." Chapter Six has been posted. Happy Labor Day Weekend, everyone!  |

Well, darling friends, all of your nagging paid off -- or maybe the act of organizing the fic board this afternoon was inspirational. After procrastinating since January (mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa) I finally finished "The One-eyed Man." Chapter Six has been posted. Happy Labor Day Weekend, everyone! Gee thanks, Maggie for chapter 6! Now I will just have to go back and reread 1-5. But I'm not complaining....I love fanfic. And thanks for organizing everything. |

Yay! The final chapter of "The One-eyed Man"! Wait, why am I happy about this? It's the final chapter. But so very well done, as always. I especially liked Jim's delayed reaction to the mugging -- and the ending is just right.

But you’re blind.” “Damn,” Jim said blandly. “You noticed.” I think this is one of the best lines in the whole story. (I went back and read the whole thing too. ). I can't believe Jim actually went to talk to Miss Mary, but I'm glad he did. There's nothing like talking to someone who's been there. "You know, you've come alot farther than you realize...." |

Maggie, thank you for finishing this one. Finding that last chapter was a lovely surprise last night.
I also loved the "But your blind" exchange. Plus, like the others, I'm going to have to go back and read the whole thing in one go, just to savour the story all over again.

I was thrilled to see the new chapter, and then a little sad when I realized it signaled the end.  I especially liked how Jim showed up at Miss Mary's to chew the fat. Hopefully, she will show up again (hint, hint). Like everyone else, I plan on rereading it in its entirety. Thanks for a great story. |

Thanks Maggie, I loved it too. With all that's on your plate (pardon pun), making the effort to finish is appreciated.
With hoosier on the "hint, hint". Miss Mary is a fabulous character - congratulations on her creation.

My first log in in weeks and see what I found!
Mags, you finished this one with with great style - "that chapter was fly" - most enjoyable read to finish it up, although I, like your other fans, am sad that it signals the end. When I have time - when the work/life balance is a little more balanced, I intend to treat myself to a reread, beginning to end.
No doubt you know how to write a good one, always a good one!
