I don't see a thread for this, and in the hopes that it arrives on the horizon some time soon, I will start one. I notice on IMdB it went from post production to Completed. (if you click on the director's name) and Kathy recieved this Ron Alert so his co-star is talking about it:
THE BIG-SCREEN SCENE: "Side Order of Life" regular Marisa Coughlan says don't be misled by the zombie-esque title, "Already Dead," of her upcoming indie film with Ron Eldard. "It really turned out to be a psychological thriller," says Coughlan. "I play Ron's wife and our son is killed, so it's also really weirdly about grief and processing something that horrific." She adds, the film that will be distributed by Sony "seems like a foreign film. It's really artistically executed

Yea, well, dude just has no luck....... Already Dead heads to DVD in January
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the action thriller Already Dead in January, starring Ron Eldard, Til Schweiger and Christopher Plummer. Thomas Archer (Ron Eldard) had everything: a beautiful wife, a job as a senior associate at a powerful architecture firm, and a beautiful son. Until one fateful night, when his son was taken from him and his wife brutalized, sending Archer down a path of revenge. When Thomas and Sarah Archer’s home is burglarized and their young son killed, Thomas does everything he can to try to put the pieces back in his life. But when the police can’t find the killer, Archer’s therapist (Christopher Plummer) offers up another option - a last resort. He knows of a mysterious group that can track and find his son’s killer and give Archer the opportunity to take justice into his own hands. With his marriage on the brink, Archer agrees to this lucrative deal. Face to face with his son’s killer, Archer is faced to make a decision that will change all of their lives. Apart from an anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, the disc will contain a number of Deleted Scenes, such as Police Confrontation, Archer and The Man and Hallway Shootout. “Already Dead” is scheduled for release on January 15.

Just call it "Already Straight to DVD" At least we get to see it and we don't have to wait too long. Always a bonus since a lot of films never make it to my town. I will have to watch for it and for The Tudors, which, if I remember correctly, is coming out around the same time.

Is is official? Did we all get this Google alert? Straight to DVD, really, really, really not a good sign. Not that we won't all run out and get it. Already Dead heads to DVD in January

Straight to DVD, really, really, really not a good sign. I am of two minds about this. If the movie is good, but underappreciated, then it's definitely not good that it's going straight to DVD. But if this movie is as bad as some of us fear it could be (in spite of Mr. Eldard's usual excellent work, I'm sure), then maybe it's not such a bad thing that no one will see it (except us, of course).

I agree with you on this Martha. I am a bit worried however that we have not seen anything about the dvd release anywhere else. I wonder how reliable that site is. I would think IMdB would have updated their information, or Sony Home Entertainment, or Darclight, the company who made the film. But all remains the same there with no mention of a release. Let's "keep hope alive" that that website is correct. The fact that they actually gave a date could be a good sign.

I also wonder about the reliability of the site that made the announcement. It seems odd that, as Mary said, other "trusted" sites have not updated to reflect this, and/or that we have not received anymore "alerts" about it. I guess time will tell. I would rather see it go straight to DVD than not see it at all!

I've also been concerned about the validity of the alert we all got regarding the release of Already Dead on 1/15/08. Tonight I went on the unofficial Christopher Plummer web site and low and behold...it is mentioned there as well as a couple of pictures from the set, one of which includes our favorite blond dude. Check it out! Hope the link works. YOu may have to cut and paste it in...scroll down till you see October 1, Already Dead on the left. Click on Already Dead and it will open a window with the pictures. www.christopher-plummer.com/index.html
