Well, last night made up for the doldrums of the rest of the week. Crusoe was really good but I wonder how long they will be able to sustain it. He certainly did have a lot of time on his hands to build all the gadgets he had. And I loved his treehouse. It reminded me of the one on Disney's Swiss Family Robinson.I also liked the actor playing Friday. Inuvik, what did you think of it?
Life was also very good last evening. Crews and Reese are more relaxed this time around. And Ted's business class! The students typing away on their laptops taking down every single word he uttered and then walking out when they learned they would be graded! Ha!

I mostly liked it, but it seemed a little too "Disney-ish" at times. I guess it is trying to appeal to all age ranges, but sometimes that can backfire. But also, I watched it really late at night, after midnight after I had been out all evening, and I was really tired. So maybe I'm not giving it a fair shake. I wonder where the plot is going to go? The flashbacks are a good way for us to learn about his past.

The flashbacks were some of the best parts, in my opinion. It did have a Disney feel to it, a "larger-than-like' quality. What with all his gadgets, the man would have given Edison a run for his money if he had lived in the 19-20th century ;D Its hard to guess where they intend to go with the storyline other than he wants to escape the island. Pure escapism and fluff but that's what we need sometimes.

Now Life is being moved from Friday night to Wednesday opposite Criminal Minds. I like both shows. Why to they persist in doing this? Moving shows. I know they want to win ratings and I don't know if Life's were down being on Friday but against powerhouse Minds what were they thinking? Life has really hit its stride this season and I would hate to see it fail because the "network", in its infinite wisdom (not), decided to tinker with it.

I've become very fond of "Life on Mars" Me, too! It's one of my favorite new programs this Fall -- running a close second to My Own Worst Enemy. Both are basically fantasies, of course, but they're quite well done. I thought last Thursday's episode of Life on Mars was the best yet, and My Own Worst Enemy also was good from the start and keeps getting better. I remember NYC in 1973 -- I lived there then -- and as far as I'm concerned Life on Mars is getting it right. I keep looking for myself among the hippies. I know some of our number are big fans of The Mentalist. I have watched it several times but haven't been all that impressed. Simon Baker is nice to look at, but somehow the characters aren't drawing me in. I'm not sure if it's bad writing or the Robin Tunney effect. I can't make up my mind whether she's simply a not-very-good actress or has had the misfortune to play poorly-written characters.

One show I am really liking this season is The Eleventh Hour. For those not familiar with the show it is about a scientist, Jacob Hood (Rufus Sewell) and his FBI handler, Rachel (Marley Shelton), who investigate crimes of a scientific nature. I wasn't sure about it at first because it seemed like so many of the other crime shows but I have gotten caught up in it. Last night's episode involved an outbreak of an altered strain of the smallpox virus. Law and Order the Original was in fine form in its season premiere the other night. I know they do stories "ripped from the headlines" but that one was especially chilling. And I can't help chuckling that the Ex-List has already been canceled. So much for improving on the ratings for Friday Night! They shot down Moonlight for this

"Life has a nice story and family situations. Elaine

There is no way I would be able to do that line of work

Must-see TV? I have totally and completely fallen in love with "Life on Mars." Not since you-know-what have I had this kind of addiction. The characters are wonderful and written with style and verve, the plot is intriguing, and . . . okay, I'll fess up . . . I know in my old bones that they got the 1972 flavor just right: the jersey dresses and the Farrah-wannabee hairdos, the Three Dog Night and vintage Stones on the soundtrack, the muttonchop whiskers and the lingo. The muscle cars are a hoot and take me right back to "Starsky & Hutch," or maybe "Baretta." I lived in downtoan Manhattan in those years, and every time we get a glimpse of a shot (computer generated but convincing) of the twin towers looming over the skyline, it takes me right back. With a chill up my spine. Is he dead or trapped in some sort of time warp? Don't much care, I have to say. I am happily along for the ride.

Very good. I bought season one on dvd and will definitely buy season two. Not only can I watch the ones I missed but I can watch them all again at the same time. I really like that because you can see the progression much better.

Hi O, (long time no see, see myPM) I love the Life series too. We've just started the second one here and hubby and I never miss an ep. I record them so sometimes we get to see two or three is a row which is just great.
I love the lead's quirky wayof thinking and talking and his relationship with his partner is ace. It does remind me of Jim and Karen though...
And you're right about the crimes EGW, not so grisly, although that one with the trunks was icky. Min dyou posing that guitar player was kind ayuk. But the bodies tend to be clean without too much gore, or maybe it's just th emusic they play int he background - they don't seem to be so grisly.
I also can't help but watch Blood Ties. Canadian ( I think), cheesy and I watch it when hubby is off playing pool. Lol!

I find the time warp question to be especially intriging (sp?). Anyone watching Californication? Season one was so good but season two? I feel the writers are struggling and there is no sign of the main story arch....

Same here! When one of the promos said he ended up in 1973, I got curious because that's the year I was born. While I tuned in out of curiosity I've gotten completely hooked. I love watching Tyler use his 2008 language/jargon and get the odd looks from the other detectives. I'm loving the soundtrack, too. The Who, Mott the Hoople, T. Rex, and Sweet among others... sweet! ABC now has Life on Mars radio: abc.go.com/primetime/lifeonmars/index?pn=radio

Is anyone else still watching Heroes? In my opinion, the third season has been kind of a mess so far. The episodes seem to be fragmented, with no coherent story lines. And when "Peter Petrelli" appears, I have no idea if he's "future Peter" or "present Peter." I've been watching Heroes and taping Prison Break, but I think I'll do the opposite from now on.
