Maggie, I owe you for recommending Heroes! I too am hooked. I still haven't caught the pilot, but that is the only one I have missed. Right now I want to give everyone a big heads-up on Heroes. Not my usual glass of tea and I just turned it on because, bascially, nothing else was on last night at 9:00 ( Two and a Half Men is still cute but no surprises). It is absolutely wonderful. Crisp smart writing, beautifully shot, any number of interwoven stories that all make sense individually -- and the casting is terrific. Some genuinely funny stuff, too. If I had to describe it in one word it would be imaginative. Maybe even magical. I AM HOOKED!!! NBC is repeating the pilot tonight at 8:00 EST. I'm going to tape it while I watch House, then I'm going to watch it again. It's that good. Surprise, surprise. I love the actors, the storylines, and the writing. Adrian Pasdar is starting to grow on me, and I just love his flying brother. This is a show to watch, I hope it stays around. Here are a couple of things I am wondering. What is the deal with the single mom? She is an interesting character and I am interested to find out exactly what her "power" is. What makes the brothers be able to fly? Can the police man turn his power to read people's thoughts off and on? Has the cheerleader always been invincible? I can't wait to see how this unfolds!

I'm still hooked too. No one does that little duh duh DUH! cliffhanger moment at the end of an episode like Heroes. I thought it was really cool when the cheerleader woke up alone in the autopsy room with her skin peeled back (gross!), but last week's cliffhanger was even better. I LOVE that Hiro just showed up from the future to talk to Peter about his destiny. And now he's all cool and speaks English. Here are a couple of things I am wondering. What is the deal with the single mom? She is an interesting character and I am interested to find out exactly what her "power" is. What makes the brothers be able to fly? Can the police man turn his power to read people's thoughts off and on? Has the cheerleader always been invincible? I don' t know all the answers to these, but it's fun to speculate. First of all, we don't know how long any of them have had these powers, but my assumption is that they have all appeared fairly recently. The mind reader seems new to it, the flyers are new...Hiro has just started to figure out that he can teleport. The single mom seems to have some sort of alter-ego she can see in the mirror and who takes care of all her dirty work for her. I'm sure it will be better explained later, but from what I've seen so far, the one in the mirror is not hampered with a conscience and will do whatever is necessary to help the single mother half of her being. As for the flying brothers...the politician is the one who can fly. It looks like Peter's ability is that he can take on the abilities of whomever he's with. Remember? When he was with the artist, he started drawing the future. He can only fly when he's with his brother. He may be how other people begin to recognize what their gifts are. I think that's pretty interesting. And that whole "Save the cheerleader...save the world" commercial. Wow. The upcoming episodes look even better than what we've seen so far. Why should it be difficult to save an invincible cheerleader? I love that it's her adoptive dad who seems to be the evil guy seeking out the others who have powers. I'm dying to know what his deal is.

I too am hooked, and fascinated to see where they're going to be taking this -- and the opportunity will be there, apparently, since the ratings have been good enough to warrant NBC ordering a full season (I don't remember whether that means 13 or 22 (!) episodes). My one concern is that they're heading away from the more fantastical aspects into a straight manhunt for Smiler (Siler?), who seems to be some sort of Hannibal Lecter serial killer and don't we just know it's going to be Claire's father? I don't much mind TV gore (although I do have to avert my head at least twice per Nip/Tuck episode), but the scenes with the family whose skulls had been sawn off and Claire on a table flayed down to the ribs have already stopped one friend who was enjoying the show from continuing with it. That said, I'm in. I can't wait to see Rena Sofer as the politician's wife -- wonder if she'll be a nice wife or a bitchy wife?

It never occurred to me that Claire's dad might be Sylar! Very interesting. I don't think so, but that's okay. We'll see how it pans out. And they'll be getting a full season of 22 episodes. Yay! I don't think it's turning into a manhunt for Sylar--although he is a creepy presence who will be showing up in a lot of storylines, I'm sure. I see it more as a story about how all these superheroes find each other and discover things within themselves and somehow end up saving the world. I still have high hopes for where this is going--especially after Hiro tells Peter, "You look different without your scar." Whoa! There is much left that needs to unfold and I'm along for the ride. I can't wait to see Rena Sofer as the politician's wife -- wonder if she'll be a nice wife or a bitchy wife? I read an interview with her at TVGuide.com and she hinted that her character has "mobility issues" or something like that. I get the impression that she plays someone who is either sick or disabled in some way. I'm sure that will be made clear fairly soon. Remember a couple of weeks back when her husband made his speech? He said he his wife would have come if she were able. Also, he has a fling with Alter-ego Mom right after telling her that he's happily married so...that's very odd. Maybe even that will make sense soon. Or maybe people always cheat on Rena Sofa's characters. Ha! I notice no one is calling her a show killer now that she's on a hit.

Do we know who it was that put Alter Ego Mom up to having the tryst with Adrian Pasdar? Also, do we know if she is one of the good guys or one of the bad guys?

Right now it's hard to know who is supposed to be "good" and who is supposed to be "bad." I think that alter-ego mom is good herself--even if she does have to resort to some questionable methods of earning money--but her alter-ego may not be so good. It certainly is helpful, though. As long as she doesn't have to feel any guilt or take any responsibility for that her alter ego does, that's awfully nice.
As for who put her up to her tryst with the politician...that's a very interesting question. It seemed at first as though she owed money to some dangerous people who had leverage against her and forced her into it, but the real question is why would that tryst make her even with them? It appears as though Claire's evil dad knew about the debt and offered to pay it off if the people she owed convinced her to have a fling with the politician. And didn't they take one of them at the end? I guess they are studying all the heroes, but we haven't yet seen what effect that will have on them. And what happens if they take the alter ego but not the mom herself? She blanks out while the alter ego is in charge and then finds everything fixed for her when she's herself again so...don't know how that would work. And it's on tonight! Yeah! Of course I won't get to watch until tomorrow, though. Maybe I'll have time to watch it at work.

So there is no definitive answer whether any of the "heroes" are good or evil. It seems we know for sure Claire's dad is evil. It seems the politician may be evil as well, and alter-ego mom is still undecided. I'm guessing Hiro, the artist, the politician's brother, and the policeman are all good. Right? I mean it would be quite a coincidence if the two came together by total chance.

I keep expecting the girl who lived across from Mehinder's father will turn out to be a "bad guy" in league with Siler; keeping tabs on the apartment and whoever showed up there. And the scary black dude who was with Siler last episode...is he Alto-Ego Girl's ex and if so what is his power??? Is it able to wipe out one's power or just their memory? Either way, it didn't sound too good for the cop the last time we heard him! If he is Nickie's ex, what can we expect from Micah? The kid is already a genius.

Ha! I notice no one is calling her a show killer now that she's on a hit. Funny! Actually, Rena Sofer's on two hits this season: Heroes, and she also will have a role on 24, as will Marisol Nichols. One degree of separation, anyone? I wonder if they'll have any scenes together (not that I watch the 24; it always seems to be on opposite something I like better). Maybe this time they'll get to talk about something besides . . . earrings.

Last night we found out for sure that Peter Petrelli adopts the powers of whoever he is with - very cool. We also found out the cheerleader's dad knows about her powers.
It doesn't look to me like the cop can turn off his hearing people's thoughts thing. It also looks like the other Petrellie brother is going to turn out evil.

Did I miss something? Isn't that the bad guy? Maybe they spell his name Syler I'm not sure. Thats the name the woman from the FBI was bandying about, the one who has been cutting open people's heads and stealing their brains. It has to be Claire's dad, he is one creepy dude! Wonder what his plans are for her. I didn't think that Nathan was particularly evil just out for what he wants and willing to win at any cost but what he did to Peter at the press conference.... Not a nice thing for any brother to do to another. On the plus side, he did give Hiro a lift back to the city. The cop is going to have to learn to block out other people's thoughts. He certainly can't go on passing out ever ten minutes. Where is Professor Xavier when you need him!

What happened to the cop is very similar to something that happened on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy somehow got the ability to read people's thoughts and it was fun at first, but then she became completely overwhelmed and almost went crazy. It was also done on The 4400 (a similar show to Heroes in many ways). The guy who used to play Dr. Gallant on ER became telepathic and for a while it was overwhelming and he begged for medication to block it, but then the government started to use him as a weapon and all sorts of horrible things happened to him. It's always interesting when telepathy is involved. I hope this cop is able to adapt to his "gift."
I absolutely loved this weeks episode! Loved Hiro calling Nathan "Flying Man!" Cracked me up. I really can't believe that Claire's dad is Sylar, though. I know Sylar is evil and Claire's dad is creepy, but I don't think he has any special abilities. I get the impression that he's obsessed with finding the others who have these abilities and using them in some way.
Now that we know that Micah has two "special" parents, that makes me wonder what the deal is with him. He's bound to have something going on himself. Since all the others are genetic mutations and proof of the evolution of our species, what would happen to the child of two people with abilities? I have a feeling he'll turn out to be very important.
And talk about "bookend moments"! The episode begins with Hiro from the future telling Peter "Save the cheerleader, save the world" and then ends with Peter giving Hiro from the present the same message. Whoa! It boggles the mind. I love how all the people with powers are being drawn together. This show is coming together nicely. I like how it unfolds.

For some reason I was under the impression he did this on the same day. Then wasn't he in the secret room of the NY apartment which got cleared out? Now he is with Nickie's ex (is he her ex?) wiping the memory of the cop and the quarterback. We know that Claire is adopted so did he somehow know that she possessed the potential for some ability and that was why he wanted to adopt her?

Ha! Next door neighbor Eden works for creepy dad--I knew it, I knew it!!!-- and is now on her way to bag Isaac. D.L. runs off with Micah after Niki's scary alter-ego turns up with the stolen cash. Claire is introduced to the 'bio-parents' who aren't all that they seem to be. Does anyone know who is the actress who played the 'bio-mom'? She looked so familiar but I haven't been able to place her yet. I think she was on another show not long ago.
