This thread hasn't been very active lately, but I'm hoping others have been watching and can enlighten me on one point, now that the season finale has aired. ***Spoiler Alert -- for anyone who hasn't seen the finale ***Throughout the season, the mantra was, "Save the cheerleader. Save the world." This implied that the cheerleader, Claire (I do think the "cheerleader" referred to was Claire) would be instrumental in the saving of the world. But as things turned out, it was Nathan, not Claire, who was instrumental in preventing the explosion. So what gives? I suppose Peter thought Claire was the one who was going to prevent it, up until the last moment. Was that it? Or was it that Nathan did what he did because of Claire? I'm sooo confused. And what in the world is going to happen in the next season/"volume"? 17th century Japan?

And what in the world is going to happen in the next season/"volume"? 17th century Japan? We taped the episode even though we were able to see the very end of it. I haven't had a chance to watch all of it but I will throw in my two cents. I think that Claire was instrumental in two ways. First ,she was there to offset Mommy Petrelli (a real sleeze-bag) who was always whispering in Nathan's ear about the inevitability of what was to come, that he couldn't prevent the explosion and that his only job was to provide the leadership necessary to help create a new world order. Secondly, Claire pricked Nathan's conscious, reminding him that Peter was his brother and that "the future was not written in stone". Instead of passively standing by and just reacting, Nathan should stand up and do the right thing. 17th Century Japan? The only thing I could think of was that when Hiro was sent flying by Sylar, he unconsciously teleported himself back to the time of his own hero. I found the ending rather anti-climatic. After the big buildup, I was expecting something more. Don't get me wrong, I still find the show great, especially with Sylar slinking off to prowl another day , but somehow I found myself a little let down. PS- they say that the actors who play Peter and Nathan have signed for the second season so they somehow survive the nuclear explosion.
