I love the Oilers games, they project "You're in Oil Country' on the screen strip that goes around the stadium. Cool. Do my eyes deceive me?? You're saying you love Oiler games? Are you feeling ok? I know, I'm just a bandwagon jumper I guess. But good hockey is good hockey! Takes one to know one I guess (Ahem--Toronto Maple Leafs) (just good natured fun, just mild teasing!)

Two draws for me: Oilers are Canadian and Dwayne Roloson is from Simcoe. What can I say? And I can't argue that it is very good hockey. Fun to watch and very nerve-wracking to listen to!

Edmonton just won the game! Edmonton is the Western Conference champion!! Hooray!! Great rejoicing!!! I saw it too! Yay!!!! I'm doing a happy dance. If it can't be the Leafs--I may be dead before that happens--then I'm so glad it's the Oilers and Rollie the Goalie. You guys rock tonight. (I bet the city is too.) I'm hoping Buffalo gets into the final or I'll have to change my signature line. I don't know how you put a hurricane on a menu. Go Buffalo!

There is great rejoicing all across Canada, although as the City of Edmonton so aptly put it, they don't need the rest of Canada - they have been doing just fine all by themselves! But, we can't help but jump onto that bandwagon because we have a Canadian team in the Stanley Cup finals. And while I love some of the new guys - the transplants who have brought that added dimension to an already young and gifted team, and the fact that there is a Cinderella story between the pipes - a 37 year old goalie who some thought near the end of his career - I am just as excited for Craig McTavish, a storied player and now Coach and Kevin Lowe, the first ever draft pick of the Oilers way back in 1979, and now their GM , both members of that glorious team of the 80s and 90s! I will have to cheer from afar and by radio! I don't think we are going to have the pleasure of seeing any of the games! WOE IS ME! GO OILERS GO! GO OILERS GO! GO OILERS GO!Let's take the blue and orange to the top of the league and hoist that Cup again!

The radio is definitely better than nothing and a little more nerve wracking since you can't see what's happening. I know hockey's not as big in the States, but it's hard for me be understand why they wouldn't televise the finals if nothing else.

Believe it or not, I actually have to listen to it on my computer through NHL radio. OLN, the home of the NHL, is not part of our cable package! And when OLN is not airing NHL hockey, they are broadcasting shows like hunting with Ted Nugent - not exactly my cup of tea.
I will do my cheering from afar and hope that NBC will air the Stanley Cup finals! I miss my hockey!

Has anyone seen the Edmonton "fans" (ie hooligans) on the news? They are being real jerks. Tons of vandalism, lighting fires in the street, climbing electric poles and jumping from the wires, etc.
The Blue Mile should be called the Rude Mile. What jerks!

No reason for all that. Just enjoy the moment without all that stuff.

Well, game's just over and Edmonton lost. Rollie got hurt with just over five minutes to go and had to leave the game. The back up goaltender has never played in the NHL. Did ok, but left the net when he shouldn't have and got scored on. The Hurricane goalie, Cam Ward, robbed Edmonton by stopping three point blank shots with less than 30 seconds to go.
Final score: 5-4 Carolina.
Here's hoping Rollie isn't really hurt. They have no other real goalie.
