bad news for Edmonton fans. I think Rollie the Goalie is done for the year. They say it's his knee and that she is gone for the season. Not looking good!

Well, that sucked! The Oilers were shutout by the Hurricanes, a 5-0 loss.
I guess this all goes to show you should never put all your eggs in one basket. The other goalies should have some ice time too, then they would be good as well (even if not as good as the main goalie)

The other goalies should have some ice time too, then they would be good as well (even if not as good as the main goalie) Hard to say if they'd be as good, but they would certainly be better than going cold turkey. If they're not as good, how are they supposed to get better with no ice time? I know it's the playoffs and you want to win, but you have to have a plan B and I don't think there is one as far as a goalie goes. You always have more forwards and defencemen who can handle things fairly well, but sometimes goalies are a different story. Sorry if I sound a little biased, but Dwayne Roloson really was the best one they had. At the same time, I don't think the Oilers are playing their best hockey which isn't fair to the very green--one of them anyway--goalie/s who are doing the best they can under very difficult circumstances. I'm still hoping for a miracle, but I don't know.

Game 4 tonight, still in Edmonton. I'm hoping they will do like they did with San Jose--win 6 in a row after losing the first two!

The Hockey Song Hello out there, we're on the air, it's hockey night tonight Tension grows, the whistle blows, and the puck goes down the ice The goalie jumps and the players bump and the fans all go insane Someone roars, "Pronger scores!" at the good old hockey game
Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game
Second period....
Where players dash, with skates aflash, the home team trails behind But they grab the puck and go bursting up, and they're down across the line They storm the crease, like bumblebees! They travel like a burning flame We see them slide, the puck inside, it's a one-one hockey game
Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game
Third period....
Last game of the playoffs, Edmonton and Carolina... Fan in audience: Toronto! Stompin' Tom: No, they were out of the playoffs this year.
Take me where, hockey players, face off down the rink And the Stanley cup is all filled up for the champs who win the drink Now the final flick, of a hockey stick, and one gigantic scream "The puck is in! The Oilers win!" the good old hockey game
Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game
Oh, the good old hockey game, is the best game you can name And the best game you can name, is the good old hockey game
- Stompin' Tom Connors (with a few changes by BJO)
Go Oilers Go! One minute at a time. One shift at a time.
This may not be the final official game, but every game is the final game from now to the end. I have faith and confidence that they can rise to the occasion.
Let's go Oilers. Let's go!

Karma for sharing The Hockey Song, and our great Canadian icon, with our American friends!
I can't believe I have to go out AGAIN and miss the game tonight. And I'll miss WHOLE THING. But, hopefully the cup will not go out tonight!
Go Canadians Go! (oh OK--Go Oilers Go!)

One more time!! Edmonton wins 4-0! The series is now tied at three. Not many teams come back from a 3-1 deficit. Believe it or not, they just said on the TV that the only team to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit was the 1942 Leafs! It was such an awesome game and Edmonton was totally on fire. Carry the flame to North Carolina Monday! Sorry if anyone is getting tired of my excitement, but this is the next best thing to the Leafs being in the final. Those of us that are Leaf fans know that h-e-double hockey sticks will freeze over before that happens! (After all, we all know that these Leafs are not the 1942 Leafs. ) The slush dessert sure was tasty on such a hot day. Inuvik, hope you stayed home and Lori, hope you stayed awake.

That hockey game last night was a classic example of "who wants it more" - and there is no doubt who that might be. The last two have belonged to the Oilers. They have played gritty, fast paced, hard hitting hockey and have shown all the nay sayers who counted them out before the series even began that they are not going to go down without a good fight.
I did stay home to watch the game, vaguely remember the third goal and didn't see the fourth. Had to catch the final score when the alarm went off at 5:45 this morning.
Wish our soccer team could dig down and find that same grit and determination - would have served them well in today's game.

Unfortunately we came away from this weekend's tournament with a 1-1-1 record - our defense seemed to break down in the sweltering, humid 96 degree heat out on the field today and we lost 2 - 1. But, this is their first time playing the full-size soccer field so I think we actually - although the boys would disagree - had quite a respectable showing and should be proud of what we accomplished. I know I am! Our ASC Cobras and Coach Darrel. (My favorite team member is standing beside Coach Darrel in the back row)
