So what are you all paying for gas? The station closest to my house is charging $3.12 a gallon. DH and I are very happy we have a Prius hybrid! This pretty much sums it up for my neck of the woods:

In RI we just went over $3.00 a gallon for regular. I love the sign at Tom's Shell. That says it all.

The station down the street from my house -- which is usually the lowest in the area -- was at $3.03/gallon for regular this morning. I guess I got a bargain when I filled up earlier this week, for "only" $2.91/gallon. The station down the street from my office was at $3.25/gallon yesterday. I didn't notice the price today.
Karma to you, mouse, for your new signature -- but the date seems so far away!

The US is pretty lucky actually. I don't know the gallon pricing, but I heard on the news that the average in the US works out to 89 cents (Cdn) a litre. Most of Canada is well over $1 a litre, and many places in Europe are around $2. It may seem bad, but it's not! Edited to add: Check out this site for a comparison in gallon pricing: money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/global_gasprices/

In OZ I pay between $1.30 and $1.45 per LITRE. There are 3.79 litres in a gallon, so we pay, um,let's see, between $4.90 and $5.40 per gallon. I fill my tank weekly for about $70 I drive a boxter and she drinks like an alocholic party fiend! Our petrol ( we don't call it gas unless we've been watching HEAPS of US TV! ) used to be between 30 and 60 cents a litre not long ago but now is way out of control. I only started watching petrol prices when it lodged above a dollar and refused to come back down. Now it is a major cost. I used to own a small transport (packaging and freight forwarding) company but sold it partly due to the hike I could see comming in costs. We are waiting here is OZ for all the FMCG ( fast moving consumer goods) to hike up their prices and out cost of living to change radically due to the petrol price increases. I should be thinking about a Prius I reckon, what is yours like house mouse?? Natascha

I work at a petrol station. The price has been sitting around $1.30 a litre mark for the last couple of weeks. And it looks to be increasing in the future rather than decreasing. The people in the know have informed us that we may be looking at up to $3 a litre within the next couple of years.
On the plus side, I don't drive.

$2.93 gallon regular in Ashburn, VA $3.13/gallon supreme
If this keeps up, there isn't going to be much time for anything! I am going to have to walk to work and since that entails 20 miles each way, I figure I'll have to leave home just about the time I am getting back!

Western Indiana it was 2.89 for regular and 2.99 for deisel as of this morning. Along with rising gas prices is a corresponding rise in the price of everything else. Yesterday, a head of lettuce was 2.39 Got to get the rest of the garden in!!!!!

In Washington, DC it's now hovering around $3.10 for regular but here in Beltsville, MD, the closest gas station to my house was charging $2.98 as of yesterday.
After hearing what it costs in Canada and Austrailia, I don't feel like we have much to complain about. As much as I hate paying more for gas, it has been too cheap for far too long and that is what has prevented us from developing new technologies to break our ties with the Middle East. I think these increased prices may eventually force us into finding cheaper and better alternatives that will benefit our economy.

On the news last night, they had some "energy expert" saying that by summer gas could be 5.00 a gallon Guess that rules out any cruisin' the 'Bash (what some people do for fun in Terre Haute, driving up and down Wabash Av.--me, personally, never done it!)for the heck of it!
