Thanks for checking in. I hope our other members on the East Coast weathered the storm as well. I will be joining you on the East Coast, but not until Wednesday. I hope things will be more or less back to normal by then. Rducasey, did your niece from Florida ever get there? I just logged on flight tracker to see if she is on schedule. Looks like she should be in by 4:30 PM....I'm about a half hour away from the airport so will keep checking until I know she is on time. If you are going into Boston Martha, you should be OK, as they made out better with lower snow amounts this time.

I'm flying into Philadelphia, which was very hard-hit. But apparently the airport is up and running again, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed things will go smoothly on Wednesday. I'm flying via Lost Wages (aka Las Vegas), and I don't think the weather there will be a problem! I really feel for the people who were traveling over the weekend and can't get re-booked on already-full flights this week.

The big snow system that hit the east coast flew through here and left about an inch of the white stuff Saturday and Sunday. Sorry to those on the coast, I guess it just didn't want to hang around here! Overnight, Mother Nature decided to give us a little bit more snow along with some frozen precipitation to make the roads pretty slick this morning

We have about 5-6 inches of snow on the ground and more is coming down plus it is beginning to blow and drift some. I actually saw some town trucks plowing the streets--one had to push some into the driveway -- and if they wouldn't mind dropping some sand while they were at it... Oh well. They say the temp is going to take another nosedive--the highs have been in the midteens and to say I have chapped lips and a wind burn would be an understatement. I guess this is now heading east but it may have shot its wad over us.

I'm afraid its out of my hands If it makes you feel any better, there is one part of this system that seems to have taken up residence over my area. The snow has stopped everywhere else but its continued to fall here all day so we have about another inch or so of the white stuff. At least its the fluffy kind which skiers love and is easy to shovel!

We are having terrible flooding conditions in RI. It has been raining for two straight days and we have received almost nine inches of rain. Our family room in the basement is under water. It is almost eleven at night and the rain is coming down just as hard. We tried pumping and vacuuming the water but it just keeps coming in. We have lived in this house for 36 years and have never had a drop of water in the basement, but this time it's like an indoor swimming pool. I keep hoping the rain will stop. Oh well, after today, they are predicting about six days of warmer than normal temps. We will need them to dry out. Anybody got an ark?

Mary, I haven't been here for a while. I did think of you when I was watching Good Morning America and they mentioned RI. Speaking of arks, I have been busy this week painting one in a children's pre school room at church. Maybe I should add Mary in there. All kidding aside, I hope the rain stops and you can dry out really soon! Attachments:

I, too, have been hearing about the flooding in RI. I'm sorry to learn you've been affected. That's definitely not the kind of indoor swimming pool you want! Here's hoping the rains end soon so you can dry out.

I heard about the flooding too and thought of you, Mary. They mentioned the cost of flood insurance but whoever anticipates a once in a lifetime occurrence? Hope it quits soon. Nothing like trying to clean out a waterlogged basement. Been there, done that. Just be sure you have plenty of bleach on hand to scrub everything down!

I heard about the flooding too and thought of you, Mary. They mentioned the cost of flood insurance but whoever anticipates a once in a lifetime occurrence?....... Thanks for the thoughts. After Katrina, flood insurance went through the roof, and of course the closer to water you were the higher it was. Well we live on an island here so it's astronomical. We have been in this house 36 years and never a drop, so I am hoping it was just a freak thing due to an excessive amount of rain in two days. Yesterday, thanks to a good cleaning crew everything got removed, and what was salvagable was stored, and the rest discarded. My husband who is a CPA, was very happy to get the news that the tax deadline was now moved to May 15 for RI residents. That let him breathe a bit easier. He did get all his files, and computers etc moved upstairs before the worst of it. Anyway, Happy Easter all! It's out to dinner for us,,,yay. No cooking.

The flooding in RI has been catastrophic for many people. Mary has gone through an ordeal this week that one can only hope is a "once in a lifetime" event. She has taken it all like in stride with virtually no complaining. She is to be commended for that. I will not forget this past Tuesday sitting at my desk at work and getting two text messages within ten minutes of each other. Both basically said "my basement is flooding". One was from Mary and one from my son, who also lost a finished basement as a result of the water. My heart goes out to Mary, Brian, and everyone else in the Northeast who has suffered this past week.

Snow--up to 15 cm--and a wind warning, gusts up to 100 km/hour.
Bad enough--but at least it is better than last week exactly, when we had up to 40 cm of snow in some parts, and a winter storm warning!
For Pete's sake--it's May!
My bus last week flashed Merry Christmas on its sign--hey, gotta laugh, nothing to be done so may as well have a laugh!

Whoa, that is a change of pace! NO snow here but the weather just can't seem to decide what to do--one minute its in the 80's the next in the 50's. I bought some plants almost two weeks ago and was glad I hadn't put out the tomatoes and peppers or they would have been hit by the overnight freeze! Yesterday we had rain and more seems on the way. Can't get a darn thing done outside on the weekends!
