It rained all Thanksgiving day then turned colder and the next morning there was a dusting of snow on the ground--and frozen car doors! Yesterday, blustery and nippy--high about 32. Today, sunny, not so windy. Next week the bottom is dropping out again. Winter is here!

Yuck! Frozen car doors are awful. The roads are usually awful too then.

Thankfully, the roads weren't slick but it took some doing to get a couple of the doors unstuck. And of course it was the day I do my usual errands--grocery shopping etc--so you need to get those doors open! At least the trunk wasn't frozen shut too!

Old man winter came with a vengeance! Wednesday, we had some snow but also the dreaded black ice. A co-worker went off the road and totalled her SUV but thankfully was not hurt. Saturday we had snow, a sloppy wet snow, about 5 inches or so. Flurries happened off and on yesterday while we were trying to get the menagerie ( two deer, a little bear and a moose--yes, a moose--its the only one in town) out for Christmas. This morning a high of 4 degrees with a west wind. At least the road crews did something this time around so the roads are not horribly slippery. You definitely have to watch where you step though!

I took my puppy out just after I'd taken a shower and my hair froze.

That big snow system just went through here today and dumped about 4-5 inches of the white fluffy stuff. Watch out east coast its supposed to be heading your way!

Another round of snow, this time about 3-4 inches. Tomorrow looking for a high of 13 with below zero wind chill. You know, before we knew about wind chill we still knew it was cold

I wish this winter would end. It is one storm after another, and I am so sick of the ice and snow! Another big one coming in tomorrow. The one you just had Hoosier.

Whew! Everyone survived the *big* one! Our area missed the feet of snow--yep, feet of snow. We did get 1 to 1.5 inches of ice however That is the one thing I do not like about winter. Snow I can handle, ice however The power went off for only an hour and a half not bad since some are still without it and could be until the weekend. Did have a branch come down on the power line coming into the house but we were able to remove it without too much trouble. Everything looks pretty with the ice but it is hard getting around because absolutely everything is coated. On youtube there is a video of a kid skating on the streets of a town here in Indiana--not too far from me actually. For those hockey fans out there you could play a game on my yard!

The ice has melted off the trees etc but is still clinging to everything else. Today, they had said a chance of flurries but *surprise* so far five and a half inches of snow has fallen and this is just the leading edge of another system. Now there is a chance of snow through Monday. We are under a travel advisory telling people not to drive unless necessary. Walking is a whole nuther story! The snow makes it easier because it has covered the ice but actually its harder because its covering the ice ruts!

Had about 2 inches of rain yesterday so of course what happens, the basement floods! Don't know quite what is going on though, its more than ground seepage cause its coming up the drains so I'm afraid the storm drain is shooting some of the runoff into our basement. The sump pump is sure getting a workout! I called the plumber this morning but he had an emergeny call and can't get here until tomorrow morning! To top it of, my one pair of boots developed a leak

Its been nearly 70 the last few days. Yup, you heard right--70's! Tonight though a cold front is coming through and we're nosediving back into the 40's. Daffodils are blooming their heads off. Indiana weather you gotta love it!
