Colorado sure has taken the brunt of the bad weather this year. Finally, it has turned off brisk and the rain has finally stopped, at least for today! It rained all day yesterday and was hazy and foggy. And there was this bad funky smell all day long Imagine a combination of car exhaust and wet dog all rolled into one. Luckily, that to has passed.

I just looked at her skype thing and it says not available so I guess that doesn't help much. It's said that for most of the day if not all.
Where are you? We all want to know.

I live about 9-10 miles away from the start of the Rocky Mountains. The avalanche was about 40 miles away. It was located near the Berthoud pass which is one of the ways to get to some of the ski slopes. I have been on that road before but not for a while. We had round three yesterday but it was not as much as the first two snow storms but they are telling us that we are in for another one at the end of next week. I am ready for spring!!!!

Glad to hear that you are OK. We have finally had a touch of winter--a brisk west wind and they are talking some snow overnight. Funny thing was the thermometer at the local bank today was reading 100-110! We are not the only ones confused as to the season!

Funny thing was the thermometer at the local bank today was reading 100-110! We are not the only ones confused as to the season! Today in the area we had ground blizzards. These are caused by very strong winds called chinook winds. Basically what happens is the winds blow all that snow around that we still have from the last three storms and causes driving conditions to be very treacherous. Near Boulder, Colorado, the winds were almost a hundred miles an hour. I think that is what caused the large avalanche. I have lived in Colorado most of my life and I cannot remember such a snowy winter. Usually most of our snow stays up in the mountains. The forecasters are saying that we are in for round 4 on thursday or friday......arghhhh! [/quote]

And now we hear another blizzard heading to Colorado.
What does that make, 4 weekends in a row?
You take care out there in Colorado.
We are to get snow later this week.
Later, Carl

It would be nice for the boys if they have more than one snow storm during their only winter on the great plains. I find this whole snow thing very interesting. I mean, most of the snow that fell on new year's is gone, but there are just little arbitrary patches here and there. Most of the snow that is left is down right ugly at this point!

Most of the snow that is left is down right ugly at this point! Such a Californian! You're so cute, Mouse. Yes, I thought the same thing when I first experienced snow here. It was beautiful and magical when it came down, but it was ugly and dirty almost immediately and stayed that way until it melted off. Even the nature reserve below my balcony didn't stay pretty for very long, although I'm sure it's different in areas that have more snow than we do. We're still waiting for our first snow of the year. It really sucks because we love it so much. Today there will be rain with some wet snow mixed in, but it won't stick and we'll be near seventy again by Sunday. Where is my winter? At least it was chilly at the metro station this morning and I got to wear my big coat.

Most of the snow that is left is down right ugly at this point! I know what you mean. I't is so beautiful when it snows. And then it melts into slush and mud and it's all just grey and depressing. I am hoping for some snow here. There was one big snowfall back in December at school, up near the snowbelt (where they get lake effect snow from Lake Erie), but down hear where my parents live (2 hours south) there hasn't been anything worth mentioning. I want to go sled riding.

Most of the snow that is left is down right ugly at this point! An old saying here is that if there is snow hanging around there is bound to be more snow so don't give up hope just yet. Nice little thing, snow. When it disappears, you see all the stuff in your yard that has to be cleaned up. Here, you just see the stuff. All we have had is one minuscule skiff of snow last November. We had snow flurries this morning, I hear. It was over before I even got out the door!

I don't miss the snow at all. If we've had 2" this year, we're lucky. The only real snowfall we've had stayed on the ground for three days.

Well after another day of weird temperature fluctuations (115 degrees this time!), it looks like they finally got the thermometer fixed. Today, a balmy 29!
