Central Canada is finally getting winter now I see on the news. Sorry BJO, I'd know you'd be happy not to have it!
Also saw lots of icestorms in Missouri, Texas, Kansas etc., places that don't usually get them. And expect the price of citrus to go up big time due to the freeze. Apparently half the crop is devasted.

We had some snow flurries today after three days of rain We are already 4 inches above normal for rainfall and flooding is a real problem. Luckily, I live far from any river or creek but the yards are flooded as well. There is just no where for it to go. Yesterday, during a brief lull, I ran outside to take the dogs and the trash and almost lost one of my shoes in the mud! It was that thick and gooey. My brother has a friend who lives in Oklahoma and they had an inch of ice but had not lost power while another has been without power since Saturday. This has certainly been a winter for the record books.

This has certainly been a winter for the record books. I live east of Tulsa. The trees are breaking from the ice. Our neighbor lost two trees, and among smaller branches, we lost a large limb off our big maple. I can't even get in the back yard. I've been going out, and putting out food for the animals. It has been very slick on the rocks next to the railroad tracks. Well, today, I fell down. Hurt my hip, and neck. Spilled my dry food which the birds swarmed as soon as I moved away. I was planning on leaving some for them, just not there. The temperature is going down to 8 degrees tonight, and 2 degrees tomorrow night. I have no water. Some people have no water or electric. 10,000 people in Muskogee are without power, and that is a town of 32,000. My daughter in Arizonia emailed me 'cause she was worried. I guess I'm better off than a lot of people. I am worried about going out and feeding tomorrow. The ice is so thick, the grass doesn't crunch down. EGW

Hi Chocky, you're in NSW right?
I'm in Vic.
Isn't it ironic, BJO has power outs because of snow, we have them cause of heat!

We were supposed to get a bunch of snow last night, but all we got was a bit of a dusting. It doesn't even cover the grass. Snow has been a scarce thing this winter which suits me just fine.

No power, no school! They say the power may not be back on till 11:00 pm tonight. We have power but some parts of the county don't. Tree branches keep falling down because of the weight of the ice so every time they get one area fixed, another loses power.

Well, I ventured out today. It took over an hour to get into my car. I locks were frozen and then I had to scrape all the ice off. What an ordeal! I had to be careful too. It was still icey. Almost two days in the house! Had to get out!

About three winters ago, we didn't have any snow and then ended up with ice in January that lasted over a couple of weeks. I remember going around the back yard hanging onto bushes, fencing, anything I could grab. It definitely is not fun. Hopefully, they will get your utilities back up soon. We finally had some snow that actually stuck overnight. Just a skiff, enough to hide the now frozen puddles left from all the rain. The temp has been in the 20's and might get back into the low 30's but overnights are supposed to really drop. Our new project at work is indexing the obits in the local papers and I have been working on 1982. We really had a blizzard go through, dumping lots of snow and one issue said we were having a heat wave of -7 degrees. I had forgotten what year it was but remember having to dig out and the grocery stores running out of the three essentials of life--bread, milk and toliet paper.

My neck feels better today, but I have a big bruise you know where. The town of Chacotah, home of singer Carrie Underwood, was without power so one of the grocery stores gave away food, 'cause they couldn't keep it. They are saying we have more coming. I don't mind snow, but the ice is so dangerous. EGW

Yes, I don't mind snow or the cold but ice is a whole 'nother matter! I darn near did the splits one year on a huge patch of ice. It was not a pretty picture! You think that you have heard it all but this morning my sister told me something that is so ridiculous its almost unbelievable! She saw car pull into the parking lot of one of our local chiropractors and a woman got out. She asked the man in the truck next to her how she was supposed to get 'this' off, this meaning the ice. She said that she had put water on it and it only made it worse! Water!!!!! The temperature this morning was around 10 degrees!!!!! She had driven into town barely able to see through the windshield. She had no ice scraper so last seen the man was getting his out to get the ice off for her. My sister had no idea who she was but it was quite evident that she had never experienced snow and ice before. I couldn't resist asking if she was a blond (no offense to any blonds out there) and she said yes! Thats one story I will definitely have to remember.
