"What's that...a present for me?" seems to be the question on Rosie's mind. They are always entertaining!

Greetings from RI! I hope you all had a great Christmas! I am enjoying my stay with my son's family. Mary and I did get to spend a couple of hours together on Tuesday and had a great time...as always! I walked to this beach today with my granddaughters.

Driving home on Wednesday evening I saw a flock of Snow Geese land in a cornfield at the side of the road ahead of me. I stopped, pulled out a little camera that I carry everywhere, and snapped some pics. By then, though, they had returned to the sky. It was an amazing sight!

Great picture! We have several Canadian geese who winter over and some that stay year-round. There are some people who think they are becoming a nuisance and that action should be taken. I hope not because they are so beautiful.

I hope not because they are so beautiful. We have a park here that is known as the duck park because there are hundreds of ducks and Canada geese that stay here all summer and some all year round. I love them but there has been alot of talk and a few attempts to discourage them from coming because there are so many. It's hard not to step in what they leave behind. Everyone feeds them even though they say not to in hopes that some will go away. No one listens though. I think something would really be missing without them. Going to feed them is nice and relaxing. Some of them will take bread right out of your hand. I'm glad they keep coming--poop and all!

I hope not because they are so beautiful. We have tons of Canadian Geese here, too. Some winter here, but more stop by when they are migrating. The ones in the picture, though, are Snow Geese. I actually didn't know what they were till the night I took the picture. I have seen them here the past few years, but only for short periods of time. I had never seen them up close until last week. When they are coming in to land and you are at a distance all you can tell is that they are white with black wing tips. At one time I actually thought they were big seagulls, but wondered what they would be doing this far inland! They do not fly in formation like the Canadians. Much more laid back!

I loooove our Canada Geese. We had a few out in California, but nothing like what we have here in Maryland. A lot of people here also think they are pests and complain about the droppings, but I think they're beautiful (geese, not droppings) and full of personality and I can't get enough of them. My husband and I oooh and aaah over them every time we see them and we make sure to point them out to one another. The novelty has yet to wear off, I guess. I don't think it ever will...but I am careful walking across the metro parking lot because...you know...squishy stuff all around.

Haha. ;D Well, you know certain topics do take on a life of their own ;D We do not have the "poo" problem here since the geese tend to stay around the fields, ponds and rivers looking for food. We have a pair that fly over our house regularly and I have nicknamed them "Gertrude and Heathcliff", a take on the seagulls made famous by Red Skelton.
