Now that's just not right....puh-leeze! It is still indicated that whether Moonlight will be renewed depends greatly on the numbers pulled for the 4 new episodes, the first of which airs tonite. Alex O'Loughlin has been in the public eye so much more lately, from a spot on the CBS Early Show, to appearances on local CBS affiliates, radio shows, ComicCon in NYC last weekend, the Paley Center in LA this week, and interviews with TV Guide, etc. CBS has also begun to air promos for the show during other "storied" favorites, such as CSI, etc. Seems they are finally - after having the fans do that sort of work for them - beginning to give Moonlight some much deserved publicity. In the TV Guide interview that just aired yesterday, when asked, "Can you tell us anything about Mick's back story that hasn't yet been revealed?" Alex responded, "I can tell you a lot, but I have to be careful what I tell you about Mick St. John because there's the work that I've done as a character and there’s the work that we're going to put on screen in the second season…...and so I can’t preempt any of that." Hope he knows something we don't.......yet! Thanks for this update. I am looking forward immensely to the four new episodes! If I have all three of the TV's in my house tuned to Moonlight, will that help the ratings?!? ;D Fingers crossed that there WILL be that second season Alex referred to!

The reviews for Fated to Pretend - from the 5,000+ member fan base of our little Moonlight Board - are a mixed bag! People either loved it or hated it...me, I loved it - even better second and third time round this morning! Perhaps it's because we have been deprived of it for so many months now that I was so eagerly anticipating this one...and perhaps the fact that some apparently chose to pay far too much attention to the spoilers that have been out there for so long now, gives cause for this diversity in opinion. I haven't read or listened to any of those spoilers and as such, came in to this episode with no expectations and I found it to be....exhilirating... the first half with the human Mick exuded fun...his enthusiasm for things long forgotten, his reborn appreciation for life, his absolute enjoyment of the mortality, his wanting to live every moment and take everything he could from those moments! Everything about FTP, from the beach picnic beginning to the rooftop picnic at its conclusion, was a charge for the spirit! That Mick gave up the one thing he had been searching for for so long - his taste of mortality and being human - for his love, for Beth, "my Beth" as he put it - was poignant and beautifully acted - the anger, the desperation, and that one solitary tear.... ...that took us right back to the appeal of Mick the vampire - turned again to save his Beth - ...a changed vampire, though, perhaps not as afraid as he once was to try to figure things out....like where or how his Beth will fit into this life. And now, having had too many Friday Nights without it, I would like to take back something I said...Moonlight is the next best thing since sliced bread....with it back where it belongs, Friday's just seem somehow right again!

Thanks for the Moonlight screen caps, Lori! I too loved last night's episode. I had not seen any spoilers. I thought the "vampire" scenes were excellent and seemed even better than those in previous episodes, right down to the make up. This was absolutely the best episode in my opinion. If I wasn't hooked before, I certainly am now! Karma for your efforts!!

I have watched four eps of Moonlight so far. I do like the show but I'm not completely hooked - yet. It's not must-see TV for me just yet but I certainly like it and the storyline about Mick getting mortal sounds pretty interesting..... And shallow as I am, Mick is pleasing to the eye - Chris

Hey, Duchess, talk to us! I've already read a rumor that the CW network is picking up the show to rerun on Sunday nights since the rating were twice as high as their one so-called hit, "Gossip Girls." What's the news on your Moonlight board?

Hey, Duchess, talk to us! I've already read a rumor that the CW network is picking up the show to rerun on Sunday nights since the rating were twice as high as their one so-called hit, "Gossip Girls." What's the news on your Moonlight board? News? Not sure if there is any news yet, but there are 6,000 very ticked off (darn, darn, darn, double darn ) very upset, very disbelieving fans on the Board! None of us can seem to make any sense of this - the reasons for cancellation remain, at least in our minds, so very unclear. Not only did Moonlight out perform so all the other Friday night shows (including, dare I say it, FNL) at the 9:00 p.m. timeslot 13 out of 15 weeks, delivered the win in the most coveted of the 18 - 49 demographic, averaged almost 8 million viewers per episode, won the PCA for best new drama, was one of the only shows to come back after the strike with its audience in tact...and CBS rewards all of this how? Apparently they decided that nothing in Moonlight's history was good enough to keep it on the air. Needless to say, we're not buying any it, nor are we just sitting back quietly, allowing this little show that could to disappear without a really good fight! I'm sure, as with anything else, this decision came down to the same thing that ultimately kills so many shows - money!! Moonlight is an expensive venture to CBS - they don't own it, WB does. Just two days ago, the powers that be seemed so excited about the fall season and the direction that Moonlight was headed - we were in for some real surprises - preaching its merits as one of the ony two success stories out of this season's lineup, and leading us to believe that the upfront news would be good. Two days later, after asking WB to pony up with some more $$, and the WB apparently saying not until you do CBS, Moonlight is cancelled, and all the hard work seems for naught. However, while it all seems doom and gloom on the one front, it would appear that the rumor mill might just be accurate - I have it from a reliable source, a MySpace friend, who just happens to be a writer, creator and producer of Moonlight, that the CW has, in fact, " expressed interest and if they take it i think they will be inclined to keep all the things the fans like best, whereas CBS just kept trying to change it to turn it into something it was never intended to be...could be a good thing if it somehow works out...and if not... well, i have some other ideas...in any case, no matter what happens, thanks for watching and supporting the show. all best, trevor" Now this morning, the Sci Fi channel appears to be have been pulled into the mix, as has USA. I know my proverbial fingers are crossed - we'll just have to wait and see what transpires over the course of the next couple of days but the drop date is fast approaching - I understand they have until Friday to start tearing down sets! I would like to be much more optimistic about this one, but I am not really holding out much hope at this point. I am of the opinion, however, that this assinine decision by CBS makes the least amount of sense of any decision made by any network this season - you have networks fighting to save non-performers and CBS eliminates a show that continually delivered the goods, including a very impassioned audience who would have been there episode after episode! Oh, well, c'est la vie! I picked three shows this year - and all three are gone - and all three were representative of television as it should be! You'd think I would have learned my lesson by now! Having previewed what CBS is adding to its lineup in the fall to replace Moonlight, let's just say, "Yeah, good luck with that!" As far as I'm concerned, Moonlight is irreplaceable! But, if one wants to look at the one bright spot to all of this - because there has to be a bright spot - it would be that we (the Moonlight fans) have now been introduced to the excellence of Alex O'Loughlin. If his remarkable portrayal bringing the conflicted soul of Mick St. John to life is any indication of what this man is capable of - another actor who doesn't just play a role, he breathes it and wears it - we should expect a very long and very rewarding career. There are 8 million of us out here who just wish so much more of that career would have been in the role of our beloved vampire!

None of us can seem to make any sense of this - the reasons for cancellation remain, at least in our minds, so very unclear. Which is why I'm sympathetic. You're exactly where all of us on this board (you included) were some three years when BJ was cancelled. Not quite believeing, and yet accepting the inevitable. Well . . . dare I say it . . . according to one article I read, 8 million viewers just wasn't enough. Close to Home -- a forgettable show if ever there was one -- pulled down 10.5 million viewers last season in the same time slot and that wasn't enough to save it from cancellation. Awards and fan support notwithstanding, it's all about the ratings on which the network base their ad revenues. Moonlight didn't perform up to the standard set by the two shows on either side of it, and CBS wants to "win" the evening. Unfortunately, it's all about the bottom line, as you said and as we all know. Which just reinforces my contention that you should never give your heart to any network show not owned by the network! I have it from a reliable source, a MySpace friend, who just happens to be a writer, creator and producer of Moonlight, that the CW has, in fact, " expressed interest and if they take it i think they will be inclined to keep all the things the fans like best, whereas CBS just kept trying to change it to turn it into something it was never intended to be...could be a good thing if it somehow works out...and if not... well, i have some other ideas...in any case, no matter what happens, thanks for watching and supporting the show. all best, trevor" Now this morning, the Sci Fi channel appears to be have been pulled into the mix, as has USA. Good luck, but I wouldn't start popping the Champagne just yet. These deals are usually inked well in advance of the cancellation annnouncement, like Scrubs moving to ABC. I picked three shows this year - and all three are gone - and all three were representative of television as it should be! If one of thm was The Woman's Murder Club, that show was doomed to fail the minute ABC put it up against the ratings juggernaut, Law & Order:SVU. Twas ever thus on Tuesday nights at 10:00. Personally, I judge all shows by the quality of the acting, the directing, and -- first and foremost, because if it ain't on the page, it ain't anywhere -- the writing. And I figured out long ago that when it comes to TV, there's a longstanding tradition going back to Cop Rock that anything quirky and different is never going to go beyond 13 weeks, if that. (Ah, for the Good Old Days when a network season meant a standard 22-ep order.) There have been exceptions -- like Wiseguy -- but not many. And, even though Moonlight was never anything approaching my glass of tea, I am, as I said, sympathetic to those who felt otherwise. (T. S. Eliot was wrong: May is the cruelest month.) If there's anything good to come out of the network announcements this week, it's that that smarmy Boston Legal will finally go away after another 13 next fall.

IF, and that is still an IF at this point, if Moonlight has to end now, if nothing works out, if no other network steps up the plate and offers it a new home (as of 5:30 last night negotiations were still ongoing, sets for the show have been given another week before tear down), the writers, et.al., and that incredible, remarkable, talented cast of actors wrapped it all up so beautifully, leaving their fans with such a conflict of emotions. While the overwhelming buzz on the Moonlight Boards is that we are all thrilled that we got an ending that more or less wraps things up, at least with MickBeth, we are definitely feeling the sadness because what was put out on that TV screen last night was one of the best episodes of the season, and a firm reminder of why it is we love this show as much as we do. There is still so much left to tell in this story......and we are now even more hopeful than before that someone will see the value of adding Moonlight and its 8+ million fervent fanbase to their schedule and letting that story continue.
Believe me, I remember what it was like when I learned that ABC had cancelled Blind Justice.....I was very upset, for the first time, really, about a television show, and I hoped against hope that the outcome would have been different....but this time with Moonlight....this time, for me, seems so much harder, the sense of loss that much greater than I ever felt for Blind Justice. My passions have definitely been touched by the gift of Moonlight and IF none of this posturing to save this wonderful little show that could comes to fruition, I will miss it - everything about it - more than I would care to admit.

It was a beautifully done episode. This show offers so much--a great cast, a great storyline and I especially love the wry humor and the bantering back and forth between Mick and Josef. Whoever was responsible for the casting of those two deserve special kudos.
While it seems that Mick and Beth are finally going to get together after some rocky moments there was still so much left up in the air after the arrival of the list that includes Mick, Josef, Logan and Guerimo. Who sent it? Why? How do they know these people are vampires? Talk about unfinished business! While sometimes they inform a show that they are not going to be picked up and gives them the opportunity to wrap up storylines, this was not the case since it seems they had already laid out the second season storyline to the powers that be (according to things I've read).

While we have so admired the manner in which Alex O'Loughlin covets his craft, cares for it, nutures it, and offers so much of himself to it, it is his humble nature and his sense of gratitude for where he finds himself that has made such an impression on the legions of Moonlight fans. What he has written below has touched us and only serves to confirm the fact that this man deserves our gratitude and our admiration on so many levels.
Dear Friends, Family and wonderful, wonderful Fans of MOONLIGHT.
Well, where to start....? The decision to cancel MOONLIGHT... my MOONLIGHT... our MOONLIGHT, is as much of a shock and gut wrenching surprise to me as it is to all of you. Really, I don't even know where to begin.
I sit here at my computer, still slack jawed even 24 hours after receiving the news that my services are no longer required on the set of this show. A show we have all come to know and love deeply, and it hurts more than I can possibly tell you.
Since i got THE CALL I have not read anything online or otherwise, I have not been following blogs or forums, I have not been reading the trades or opinion polls and I have not been calling around to get information.
"Why are you not fighting for your show?!" I hear you all scream!! The truth is my friends, I never STOPPED fighting for it. From the very beginning when I was told time and again that i wasn't the man for the job, having to prove myself to everyone with tests and screen tests, to a complete re-casting of the show, through 5 different show runners at the helm with 5 different artistic visions, to a Writer's strike that took 5 episodes away from us...... oh how the list goes on. But through all of that, i am proud to say that not once did I bow down and allow someone else to come in and do with MOONLIGHT as they please. And along the way, if I needed a break and wanted to do that, I don't think I could have anyway because, well, I suppose it's just not in my nature!
This is all still so fresh for me and I am going to need a little time to process this whole thing before i can digest what has actually happened, let alone move on. Honestly. I really feel lost for words.
I will say however, that never, never in my life have I experienced first hand a level of support from a group of people like that of you all who are reading this now, and who 'loved this show to life' alongside me. It has been overwhelming to say the least.
I am grateful to you all. I am extremely proud to be associated with this piece of television. And I am so, so sorry to my very core, to lose MOONLIGHT.
All my love,
Alex O'Loughlin x

Mick gave the door a gentle little nudge shut at the end of last night's episode and while we knew the implied significance to ending the episode like that, there was still the hope that someone would step up and allow it to be opened again. Unfortunately it would appear that might not be meant to be, as confirmed to the Board just a short time ago by members of the Moonlight crew:
We read your boards all the time.... extremely supportive group!! You always have been. We have always enjoyed your comments and the things you guys notice on our sets crack us up (we over-used the #5 on our apartment doors one week, and sure enough you picked up on it and even wondered if it meant something)
I am REALLY sad to say that 15 minutes ago we got the call to come and tear down the sets starting as soon as Tuesday. Warner Brothers has pulled the plug and the UPM's words "Moonlight's dead."
We had the most amazing crew, and cast, and we are all sooooo sad!!
I thought you guys should know as soon as we were told.... you at least deserve that.
Thanks for all the support!!
Sadly, The Moonlight Crew
While this could be nothing more than the fact that this soundstage is booked for another show and no official word has come down that negotiations for Moonlight's existence have ceased, there is still that little, tiny sliver of light through the keyhole. At this point, though, I am, as much as I am not ready to be, of the opinion that the outcome is already decided.
