I think I'm confused--are Henry the 8th and the butler wax figures? Or did a real person really let you hold his hand?

I think I'm confused--are Henry the 8th and the butler wax figures? Or did a real person really let you hold his hand? Haha. That would have been nice. Every single figure at Warwick is made of wax. They are so life like. It's amazing. When you're there, you're just waiting for them to start talking. I have one picture with a real person and a wax figure in it. You can hardly tell the difference. I'll find it.

Those are great shots. I particularly liked the man in the park. I would just be happy if the squirrel didn't run up inside my pants leg!!! Now that would be embarrassing. And people watching can be more fun than visiting some of the sites. They never let you see what you really want to see on those guided tours.

Here's the one with the wax figure and the real person in it. The guy was really nice but said sometimes he's nasty because he likes to tap people on the shoulder and say hi. With all the wax around, you don't expect it and it scares you to death. He didn't do that to me though. This is a tree that was at the castle and caught my eye. I just thought it was interesting for some reason.

Well that was real considerate of the man! Sheesh! I wonder how many times he's gotten smacked for surprising people?
The tree reminds me of the Ents in the Lord of the Ring movie.

Hi All, Just wanted to let everyone know that in about a month--at the end of July--Mary, Kathy and I are going to meet in NY. We're going to be seeing Wicked and....Lindy!! Yayy! Kind of reminds me of three years ago. (Was it really that long ago?)

There'll be no blonde dude to worry about him taking the night off. No matter, we will be having a fun time in the city!

Sounds like fun! What is Wicked? A play? Its a play based on the character of the Wicked Witch from the Wizard of Oz. There is also a book by Gregory McGuire with the same title. I'm not sure which came first though!

The zoo was fun, but the highlight of my weekend was a daytrip via Ferry to Block Island, which is an island 12 miles off the coast of RI. It is small, 3 x 7 miles, and lacks the celebrity status of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. However, it is a beautiful place to visit. We left from Point Judith on a somewhat foggy morning. It cleared abruptly as we entered Old Harbor on the Island. Our ferry was escorted the entire 13 mile trip by a "pod" of jet skiiers! You can see them on the left of this picture. The Island has a Victorian flavor for sure...Some of the hotels/Inns along the main street in Old Harbor: We had a picnic lunch on the State Beach, which as you can see is a popular spot: After lunch we set out for the South end of the Island to Mohegan Bluffs, which drop 150 feet to the beach below. In this picture is the Southeast Light house. If you look diagonally down from the light house and to the right across the area of vegetation, you will see the steps that meander down to the beach below. The beach below the bluffs was less populated, and the surf was rougher. (Those are my granddaughters in the pink bathing suits.) Our trip ended pulling back into the fishing docks at Galilee. That is one of the ferries in the distance. Needless to say, I hated to leave the place! Modified to move into the Travelogues Thread!

Kathy, once again your pics are so good. I especially love the one with the girls going into the surf. Believe it or not, the first and last time I went over to Block Island I think I was nine, and it is right here in RI! Well 12 miles off the coast. But you do know Kathy what Rhode Islanders are like when it comes to leaving town!
But I am leaving in two weeks to meet a bunch of friends in NYC once again. Yay! Kathy, Lindy, and Anita! Anyone else coming? We are going to do that bus trip past B/J sites. (with Sonny driving the bus.) hahahaha.
