In the second episode, Just befoe Christie and Jim have the dinner party invitation discussion, Jim opens the drawer to get his gun and badge and the drawer appears to be empty, but next scene shows him removing the gun. (and while I am on the subject of Clay, I love the way he has that little swagger when he hears Christie say "My chief editor, Clay Simmons)

In Rub a Tub Tub: After Jim finishes talking to Sonny about becoming his informant again, Sonny walks off. Jim and Karen start to walk towards each other. Karen raises her arms palms up and says "Is he in?" Jim immediately lifts his arms in the same gesture and replies. To me it seems like he is responding to a visual clue from Karen. Either that, or the writers/director threw it in as the most unlikely coincidence ever!

I saw it as two different moves: she spread her arms in a question as she asked; he held his up in answer, as in "goal". Kyt

I still think it would be just TOO much of a coincidence. I was really only responding to the "same gesture" comment. If it's too much of a coincidence for you that the blind guy used a gesture when someone asked him a question and was also gesturing, okay. Kyt

Kyt Jim uses the same or a similar gesture at least one other time, in "Past Imperfect," when Greg asks him a question to which he doesn't have an answer. It seems to be a gesture he uses to say, "Who knows?" So I don't think it was too much of a coincidence that he would use it to respond to Karen's question.

I think that Jim's hand move was just a coincidence, it was not a reaction to Karen's hand motion. Now, as some of you may have noticed, I have what is bordering on an obsession with Marty's hair in Dance with Me. Here it is in an early scene where they are in the squad room discussing the crime. See how the left side looks very closely shaven? Now, here he is in a subsequent scene, interrogating Bostick, supposedly on that same day. His hair appears to be the same length all around. If you look closely you will see he is wearing the same shirt and tie - at least it looks that way to me. So did Frank Grillo crack his head open and need stitches to close the wound? All right, that might be too much of a leap, but in the immortal words of Jerry Seinfeld, "what's the deal?"

You know the issue with the changing computers in the squad room-maybe they just got an up-grade. One eveing when I left work,we had the larger monitors etc. When I walked in the next morning, there were flat screens everywhere! I am sure the good fairies didn't come in overnight, but you never know!!! ;D

I see people have strong opinions on this one! I've thought about this ever since I saw the episode for the first time, and I have to say I agree with kathy. While it's true that Jim/Ron has gestured like that at other times, I'm inclined to think he did so during this exchange because of the visual cue from Marisol. It was probably a subconscious choice on his part, but I also think it too coincidental that they made nearly identical gestures at the same moment. That said, I think it's also easy to explain away for the sake of the story, since it's believable and reasonable that Jim would and could have made that gesture without being able to see Karen's gesture first. If that makes any sense at all.

So I'm watching "Dance With Me" trying to write a recap (yes, I am working on it, shmeep!! ), and I noticed that the third time Jim talks to Pete--when he tells him that he is blind and needs to face the facts, and they end up cleaning the apartment--Jim sits down right before he says he thought about killing himself. But we have to assume he'd never been in that spot in the apartment before or spent time familiarizing himself with the layout--so how did he know there was a ledge or something to sit on there?? He doesn't seem to feel it out or be otherwise uncertain about where he's sitting.

Nothing to explain away since it's a given that it's not a blooper. At least, not imo. But fun to give it a go when others see it otherwise. Kyt

My fave dual-move is the crossed-arms in the locker room after Dunbar ran into Selway. Loved it. And Dunbar is just soooo visually responsive that he's good to watch. Kyt

That's what my dad calls it when you bend your knees in a low squat and relax there.

I was again collecting images for my ScreenSaver last night and caught this little BLOOPER in Rub a Tub Tub. When they pull Eric into the room to let him know that they know he was in MaryBeth's apartment the night before, Jim says, "Eric, we talked about professional courtesy before. We're going to extend that to you right now..." and reaches for his glasses, to pull them off and drop them on the table. The shot then pans out to Karen, and we can clearly see Jim reflected in the two-way, with his glasses still in place, arms at his side. and then pans back to Jim - without the glasses The more I watch, these episodes the more little things like this become apparent, thanks to freeze frame, zoom and replay - nit picky, absolutely - and nothing we ever would have noticed if not for the capabilities of modern technology!
