Thankfully the tornadoes that struck yesterday were way south of here but we still had one whopper of a storm. The hail that fell was so thick it looked as if it had snowed. It was about the size of a marble and there are still patches of it around because the temp dropped. A second storm hit about the time I went to work so I rode it out in the car. More hail but substantially smaller. Lots of rain and wind. The wind buffeted the car shaking it from side to side. At one point the sky was so dark you'd swear it was night and all the street lights came on. If this is a precursor of what's in store for this spring I'm not thrilled!

Hot, hot, hot!!! Yesterday it was 109, today 106 and the heat just keeps on coming. Next week its *only* supposed to be in the upper 90's. Almost the entire state in under a burn ban. I only hope the people who love hot weather are getting their fill this go around.

At last some relief...only in the 90's This week they are promising the mid to upper 80's but I'll wait and see. Saturday was miserable. The thermometer near my house read 111 Just put me in a pot and stew me! I know much of it came because of the concrete but at 7PM it still read 108. Still no rain. I think we've forgotten what it looks like.

Finally some decent rain. Not piddly, I'll just evaporate before I soak in rain but real honest to goodness rain! Almost forgot what it looked like. It wasn't near enough to break the drought but beggars can't be choosers. Now if the stifling heat will move on...

Almost the entire state has been declared an agricultural disaster area. Watch for prices at your local grocery to go up in the near future. Yesterday there was a report on the orchards; the apple crop is done for, melons, tomatoes and berries are iffy but there still might be peaches. Me, I'm hoping to keep my tomatoes and peppers alive! My brother lost his second hay crop so is looking to buy it for his horses. They say it could be like this until Halloween. We were supposed to have rain today but it looks like its skirted around us...again

Yay! We've actually had rain! On multiple days! And more than spit and whistle than only wet the windshield of your car! Not nearly enough to end the drought but beggars can't be choosers. Things definitely look better--at least in the yard. The corn crop is basically shot so look for prices to go up in the friendly grocery near you. And its cooler!!! Hopefully those triple digits are done for the year!

Mother Nature certainly likes to toy with us mere mortals. Finally its cooled off, there's been consistent rainfall (we've had more the last month than all summer) and what...we have the first freeze of the season I covered the plants I had babied through the drought but they still got nipped then the other day we had a heavy frost. Today I went out and picked all the tomatoes that were any size and put them in a paper bad to see if they'll ripen. Darn, didn't have my fill to tomatoes this year at all

The blizzard heading east went through here yesterday and dumped about 5-6 inches. This is a guess as there was a lot of wind so there's drifting here and there. Not as bad as the one we had back in the 1970's but of course people forget how to drive on snow and ice

We didn't have hardly any winter last year. And of course some people are idiots and like to take chances and spin their cars on purpose We could get about another inch or so tonight.

This week has certainly run the gambit weatherwise. By Wednesday a high of 63 and people running around without jackets, this morning a toasty 5 and some people still refusing to wear a jacket
