I've posted the first chapter of a new fic, "Cop Killer," in the Fan Fiction section here. The squad investigates the murder of a detective from Jim's old squad. It's kind of a sequel to "Meet the New Boss." It's also at fanfiction.net: Chapter One.

A great start like always with many hints of what could be and also many unanswered questions. I'm sure there's a big surprise somewhere in here too. Can't wait for more.

Hot dog! Now that is my idea of an Independence Day celebration -- a cracking good new mlm fic! (Karma to the author, of course.) Once again, mlm, you get it right: The details of the New York City locale are 100% believable and seamlessly worked in, the characters we know and love are rock solid, and the new ancillary characters are colorful and specific. The dialogue is realistic and adds to our perceptions of Dunbar and the tecs of the Eighth Precinct. You know how to reflect the past while moving us forward. So well done . . . and, not to be greedy, but you know we're already panting for Chapter Two.

You are just so wonderfully consistent! This is the start to another great story, although, if you don't mind me saying so, I found this opening chapter just a little short ( my way of letting you know that I would like some more please?) Keeping the characters in character, progression of those characters, crisp writing and your attenton to the detail are just a few of the reasons I truly do enjoy your fics. I'm certainly hoping that the next installment is not too far away!

Oooo, another fanfic from mlm! I liked the brief interaction between Jim and the witness as to the etiquette of their respective dogs. To be in their minds as they studied each other--the dogs that is! And another meeting with Krause and company appears to be in the offing. A little more of Jim's history maybe??? Great beginning!

This is becoming more and more intriguing and, as usual, a triumph! Now I realize you lived here at one time, but we acclimate ourselves to our surroundings. You have not only brilliantly captured the New York I know and love so much, but the lingo - the conversation flows exactly as it should! Brava, Native New Yorker!!! Eagerly awaiting more!!! Ann Rule best start shaking in her boots!!!!!!!!! ;D

Oh, yeah, this is so very good, MLM! Well written lead in to what promises to be an intriguing story. Your characterizations are so true, the conversation flows brilliantly in their voices, the new players are already well rounded and the addition of a little bit of rainy day humor between partners absolutely perfect. I'm hooked!
