I love the way you've taken the passing reference to the Dunbars' neighbor Cara (in "Past Imperfect") and created a wonderful character. As always, you have shown so much insight into the issues the Dunbars are dealing with as expectant parents. Keep it coming!

Smeep -- You already know what I think of this story - but this chapter was especially poignant. And I love the characterization of Cara as a kindly old widow - another person who knew Jim before and helps him "see" things now.
Absolutely wonderfully conceived (excuse the pun) and I so look forward to the next installment - as soon as I finish reading the one just posted!
As I said, you think you are a wanna be writer - I think you already are!

Chapter Nine is up at ff.net, in case anyone has the urge to read it there instead of here. Thanks for all the support and feedback, everyone. I never planned to write anything that would go on and on for all these chapters, but you guys have made it fun for me to continue. www.fanfiction.net/s/2561502/9/

I like it that you have Jim picking up that disgusted little head shake from his mother, even though he dislikes it in her. So true to life.

I absolutely love where you are taking this story - although this chapter put that little lump in my throat and I had to swallow hard to get rid of it. Suffice it to say that I hurt for Jimmy. But again, what else is there to say except keep it coming Shmeep - it really did make my day!

What a treat to find a new chapter on my computer! Gigi is a real piece of work. As Christie said in an earlier chapter, they'll just have to prove the doubters wrong. I love the way you are bringing out Jim's ability to maintain his sense of humor, even under very trying circumstances.

Whoa, greatgrandmother is some piece of work. Don't we all have someone like that in our families? As I said before, your laugh sometimes so you don't cry. Its great that Jim has maintained his sense of humor. Its also great that his sister-in-law is now on his side!. Please, keep it coming. Can hardly wait for the next installment!

"Until today, Jim had thought he could no longer have the old kind of guy time, that he was too much trouble for anyone to seek out for casual comradeship, that he was too different from everyone else to be thought of as 'one of the guys'.”
That is so touching, and I really can imagine him feeling that way.
